Remington 700 rifle barrel lengths vs accuracy

I am looking at a remington 700 ADL at gander mountain it is a .270 and has a 22 1/2 inch barrel.

I am looking to use it for target and deer from 200 to 400 yards. is that barrel length good or is 24 inch better. I want this to be a nice tack driver. opinions?

If your only shooting out to 400yds with a .270, 22" will be plenty. That's a great gun, at a good price too. Snatch it up while you can.

479 is a steal.. dont think you will see if difference 1.5 inches shorter.

I thought the new ADL's come with 24 inch barrels these days? I myself like 22 inch barrels in the non-magnum rounds like the .270. Adding 2 inches to a barrel gives you a tiny bit more of velocity which won't make a bit of difference at any reasonable yardage.

Barrel length has little effect on accuracy. Many short barrels are extremely accurate. Barrel length affects velocity more than anything. The only way to tell how accurate a rifle will be is to test it on the range.
