Their prices aren't unreasonable!

Looking at the DIY kit?

My 1st ML was a Hawken kit.

Rifle barrels are a problem to blue at home, but can be done.

I'm sure you've considered a used one from the gun auctions.

Blackpowder guns can be shipped to/within NY without the added FFL expense.

Drop a PM to bpb and tell him what you are thinking.

He can help!!

Looks like a very neat hobby. I'm too impatient for that.

All 3 vids were interesting! What's with the snakes????

One thing that looked whacky was him sitting in the treestand, full camo & a flintlock.

Somehow the old rifle looked way out of place.

You do know if you get into this there are a couple of additional requirements.

Gotta go to a rendezvous, reenactment or BP camp/shoot.

Went to a few several years ago put on by a BP club and those guys go all out authentic.

TeePees, clothing, couple of indians, traditional foods, trade blanket, shooting contests,...

Very, Very cool!!!

Also need a persona, do a search ( persona muzzleloader ) on the web - this is how far these guys go!

Maybe primitive trekking?

I think I have decided to build a gun. There are some good kits out there and have a few friends who said they would give me a hand if I got stuck. Think I am looking at this gun. Now just need to figure out if I want it in 20 gauge or 54 cal rifled, decisions, decisions.

Going to do it, huh?

Like I mentioned, I did a T/C Hawken percussion kit & it was fun!!

It's been decades, but I do remember having a problem with bluing (or brown) the barrel.

Mostly the size of it, heating it up or getting an appropriate container to put solution & barrel in... Don't recall!

I'm sure you've done all your research and made your decision based on what you want.

FYI - The cost of the parts for the kit you mentioned is approching a decent already built model.

There is a lot of self gratitude building one and shooting or hunting with it!!!
