ants
Can anyone tell me what a "memory bump" safety is on a 1911 style pistol???

Pygmy
You piqued my interest, because I had never heard of it.. I googled it up.. Memory bump grip safeties have a more pronounced "hump" than a standard grip safety, supposedly to ensure that the safety releases more positively . Some shooters have tried them and found them painful, and for that reason have ground them down to reduce the size of the hump.

I guess that the bigger bump also triggers muscle "memory" which causes the shooter to maintain the same grip by feeling the bump in the same spot in the palm.
