small rant about shell size....

Was at a certain store yesterday....wont say any names. Heard a guy asking a clerk where the 2 3/4 turkey loads were. Clerk responded that the ammuntion manufacturers were slowly doing away with ALL 2 3/4 shells as they were no longer effective. Wow. He then when on to state to the customer that 2 3/4 was not ethical for turkeys unless they were at ten yards or closer. Clerk said you should buy some 3 1/2 shells because they are more popular and much more ethical. Guy said my gun only shoots 2 3/4 so thats what i want. Replied the clerk than you need to buy a new gun because soon 2 3/4 shells will no longer he available anywhere! Customer smiled and told the man that he had killed more turkeys with 2 3/4 than the clerk had probably ever seen. I laughed and proceeded to buy my 2 3/4 federal mag shoks from the same clerk.

Guess my rant is where do these outdoors stores find employees? I understand about upselling but blatantly lying to an obvious seasoned hunter? I asked the clerk...so howlong before i can no longer buy 2 3/4 shells....his response was by 2014....wow. rant over just am really understanding why some folks wont go to big box stores. Yes some people that work at these places know their stuff...but one apple can ruin the whole bunch.

AMEN to that...

Our daughter just had a go around in one such store with a young male clerk...She was trying on camo jackets and was asked if she needed help...No but I wouldn't try to sell these to a bow hunter...The kid asked why...she replied they are way too noisy....Well then feet where being put in mouth left and right... She was dressed in her office clothes and high heels...the kid was making  a very wrong assumption about her hunting abilities...We believe because of her appearance.....finally an older clerk came over and asked if there was a problem...the young clerk said I was just trying to explain to her how she was in correct...lol

 

Daughter summed up conversation and ended with...My Mother knows her stuff...If I came home with this she'd say honey that's real nice but you need to return it...the older clerk felt the material ...turned to the young clerk and said ...I've been bow hunting since before you were a glimmer in your Dads eye...she is correct this is way to noisy for bow hunting....The older guy asked if he could assist her...she just smiled and said not any more and walked away.

I don't really know why anybody would spend 30 dollars for five of the "best" shells on the market when it cost me 8 dollars for a box of 10 kent 2 3/4 that throw a better pattern then most people are posting with there 3.5" mags just seems silly to me

_{last year I was at dicks when a guy asked the clerk what the difference was between a regular rifle round and a short action magnum, clerk told him it was for hunting dangerous game and you could chamber another round faster....I almost fell over laughing}
