Captree Charter Boats

I was thinking of taking my 8 y/o son on a charter boat for the first time. Does anyone know if this is a good time of year to go? I want his first time to be memerable and not get skunked.

if you're looking for him to just catch fish and have a good time, I would look at north shore  / Port Jeff boats.....they should be doing well with Porgies this time of year and usually don't disappoint. Celtic Quest and The Osprey are good boats.

I don't think he would care what kind of fish he catches. I still remember the smile on his face when he caught his first one. (It was a sunny)

There are some good boats at Captree, right now they would be fishing for fluke. I think the last boat I was on out there was Tradewinds.  But I think the North shore advice is right on if you just want to catch fish with a kid. I was on the Celtic Quest just yesterday for a friends birthday party and we caught a bunch of  jumbo porgys. I would recommend bringing your own light action pole if you have one. Much more fun than those big boat poles. Good luck.
