 On Saturday, September 28, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will celebrate the 42nd Annual National Hunting and Fishing Day, in collaboration with the Suffolk Alliance of Sportsmen at DEC’s Hunter Check Station in Ridge (Suffolk County).
 DEC’s Check Station is ¼ mile west of Wm. Floyd Pkwy/CR46, ¼ mile north of Route 25.
From LIE exit 68: Wm Floyd Pkwy/CR46, North to Rte 25. West on Rte 25, ¼ mile to Randall Road (Gas Station). Turn right (North) onto Randall. Go ¼ mile to entry, on left.
From Sunrise Hwy: Wm. Floyd Pkwy north. Then, follow same directions as from LIE.
 Enjoy a day of exhibits and demonstrations including: free kids’ fishing derby with prizes, Rough Riders Cavalry Troop re-enactment; archery demonstrations and lessons for children; bait and fly casting demos; black powder demos; decoy displays; hunting and retrieving dog demos; falconry exercises, horse show, taxidermy display; trapping display.
 Representatives from the Central Pine Barrens Commission, Suffolk County Parks Department, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Dept., national, state and county federations, as well as numerous clubs and exhibitors will be in attendance. Free entertainment including kids’ fishing derby with prizes, pumpkins and face painting.
