I have a 15' ladder stand from Dick's, been using it for years but I never liked the permanent steel seat. It is cold and so I bring a pad to sit on and when you are standing the seat keeps you away from the tree and I like to lean against the tree to break up my form. So with the help of a friend who can weld, I cut off the seat and welded it to the floor platform and made a fold up padded seat. It works great and makes the stand so much more comfortable and now I can stand and hug the tree, best of both worlds.
