growalot
Guy hunting the lease next door stopped for retrieval permission...I explained ONLY with a call and TALKING to me FIRST...so he wrote his name and # down and I did the same...as I handed him the card I said...do you have permission to do the same for me?...They are the only neighbors that haven't given me their #'s...auhhhmm...No...but I'll tell them how gracious you were...I said well tell them to call me with their numbers...Then I said...this is a land line...uhhh I don't have a working cell...hhhmm really how is he going to call??.. Any ways I had to repeat the call and actually talk to me first soooo many times ...Mr B lifted his head out from under the hood of his truck and said...Your damn lucky your talking to her...I would have said NO....ouch I ended with...no call and your on my cams or I catch you..you can be a relative...and I WILL have you arrested....shook hands and he left...told me he'd be out scouting today....Thanks God...they do this every year...Friday they brush hogged a bedding area the deer have used all summer..this weekend they've been out "scouting" their lease...... So today I go to my target range to shoot at noon...bedded 15yrds behind it is..a herd deer....yep go for it guys....lol (sp) Edited September 29, 2013 by growalot
growalot
I was putting up new posted signs...talking to my self on the main road......when I hear a chuckle ...look up and it's the neighbor that had called me 2 years ago screaming and cursing me out about shooting at his house...long short not me.....I was a 1/2 mile away across the street sitting in a stand a trespasser ...any ways we finally met face to face last year and got things straightened out...He said Hi ...I thought you were building stands...nope...so he explained he'd actually moved to the property and which place...he owns rentals also...told me about his dogs and if I needed to trail just knock on the door or leave a note...that he has invisible fence and the dogs are nasty......he'd help me get the deer and even throw it in the truck and take it home for me...Super nice...I'm now home exhausted...raked a dead honey suckle branch across my rt eye...killing me and knees on fire...the town dug the drainage ditch where signs had to go 4ft deep with straight sides...and the swamp drains over that land......a 6 sign job took me 2 1/2 hrs...lucky it wasn't a rose branch that got me...any how the big bucks I'd gotten on my regular digital...well thanks to the neighbor...I know where they went...hopefully they'll be safe...he doesn't hunt and will now be watching the area and will call if ppl go on...but it occurred to me...even if I did need to knock on his door....wonder where the invisible fence is????LOL

growalot
No one said they couldn't "harvest " their animals...they can't trespass to do it...all my signs have my cell phone # on them.....plus I hand delivered a card with name and # to all that border me just so ppl could call for retrieval...all but the lessees have done the same for me.. No one wants an accidental shooting AND when on my land hunting...If I don't get a shot on an animal that feels right to me I leave them be for a while as to not push them...I DO NOT want 2 or three guys traipsing through that area trying to find their deer on my place ruining my chances at either a recovery or a shot If their deer was mortally wounded than it will still be there after a phone call for retrieval rights...by the way if you call Deer Search ...it's mandatory for any lines they cross... Now this is done by ppl here because....guys use the "I'm just tracking a deer" as a sneaky way to get away with doing drives on neighboring land...or to try and shoot one on your land...rule is...there had better be a fresh blood trail...that starts off our land... We have the guy who is always tracking a deer also. He lost his lease to the land next to us this year so hopefully the new fella is less sneaky. I misread your first post about the neighbors deal .
