mwburne
From Finger Lakes now in NC. The deer are smaller here, but plentiful. Also bear and hogs in some areas, turkey too. Looking to hunt in NY and host anyone who might be interested in NC hunting or anywhere on east coast,... have rifle, shotgun and Jeep,... will travel. Glad to join and get info and make connections with NY hunters. Mike

mwburne
Redneck ha! I think in many parts NY have more rednecks than here in Raleigh Durham! Hardcore what part on NC and NY? I'm in Cary and joined the Fellowship gun club in Castalia Nash County. They hunt deer with dogs during a certain part of the season. I've also hunted game lands. looking forward to Spring turkey and then focus in feral hogs in Johnston county and down near Wilmington. I've heard Holly Shelter is good and Woukd like to try bear hunting so lots of things on my bucket list. I'd welcome feedback / suggestions. do you still get down this way? Hardcore
Proud Redneck here...but plenty of rednecks in NY...your in good whitetail area..... Counties north,& northwest of Raleigh are best in state...Person County is #1 so your in the middle of it. A lot of hunting clubs run dogs for deer...or property is subject to be over run by a pack of hunting dogs at some time or another...dog hunting is not my cup of tea and I have always been a still/stand hunter. But there are plenty of places to hunt where you won't see deer dogs in an entire season. If you had to hunt public land...Jordan Lake , Sherron Harris gamelands can produce nice bucks with enough work..Duke Forest is also supposedly packed with deer and by special permit only, it's worth investigating. Plenty of deer...good luck
