Otsego Lake Info

Looks like I will be in the area of Otsego Lake around the end of June for a few days. I looked up the fishing on Otsego Lake and found they have trout, walleye, bass, perch, maybe salmon, etc.  I also found several fishing charter services.

Does anybody have any additional info on this lake? I'm wondering if its worthwhile to pay for a charter as opposed to just wetting a line from shore? I don't have a motorboat, so my only real options to fish this lake are from shore or hire someone.

Thanks in advance!

I almost always get a charter when fishing a new lake, especially if catching fish is on my list of things to do.  Sure, you could get lucky setting up on the shore, but on a charter, you're much more mobile if the fish don't happen to be where you are.  I've also found that charter captains are very knowledgable of the fishing on the lakes they charter on, and are very willing to share their knowledge, you just have to get them talking then they usually don't shut up!  Lol.

I just emailed Sam Smith's Boat Rentals because the rates are very reasonable for a 6 person pontoon boat. I can bring my own equipment up and can buy bait there and give it a shot with my family for a few hours. Still much cheaper than hiring a guide to catch some bass lol. The one guy I emailed said they target smallmouth and walleye at the end of June, not sure why they aren't targeting Lake Trout at that time of the year.
