Fantail
Anyone here use a peep with a smoke pole? Friend at work and I were talking mz's and I'm still using irons - thinking about upgrading a little.
Pygmy
I switched to a peep years ago. Open sights no longer work well with my old eyes, but the peep works as well as ever. I bought an aftermarket tang peep from TC for my old Hawken. On early models ( like mine) you may have to drill/tap the tang to mount the sight, but later models already have the holes. The first thing I did was to drill the aperture out to about 1/8". the one that comes with the sight is fine for target, but too small for hunting, IMHO. I use the standard bead front sight that came on the rifle. It works very well and is quick and accurate. Since I went to the peep the rifle has accounted for a number of whitetails plus a 6x6 bull elk.

Fantail
So far sounds good. Appreciate the info. MZ starts in a few days so I'll slug it with irons for this season, and pursue a decent peep with time at the range for next season.
