Wood Stock Maintenance

To my eye there is nothing that makes a rifle stand out more than a nicely figured wood stock. These days they seem to be a thing of the past as most firearms use some kind of synthetic. Anyhow if one owns firearms with wood stocks good maintenance is key to keep them looking great for many years. Instead of just wiping a gun down with an oily rag give your stock a simple wax treatment. A buddy of mine whose Dad was a furniture maker liked to use a Bee's wax concoction to polish and preserve wood. He gave me a small can of that stuff and I used it for many years but eventually it ran out and it is no longer available. I am sold on the Bee's wax so I started looking around for something to replace it and found this Feed-N-Wax product. Used it for the first time recently and it seems to work as well as my original stock. Now the wax works best on satin oil type finished stocks where it can penetrate the wood, stocks with glossy poly finishes it does not do much other than shine.

Give your old blunderbuss a treat and polish that old dull wood, you will be surprised in the difference it makes.

good info, gonna grab a bottle, i also and bringing my wood stock firearms out in anything less than miserable weather.
