USA trail cams patriot i

Recommended Posts

My order came in earlier this week and I found time to go through things and take some test video. I have not put this in the woods yet.

The cam seems well built. Only 2 things that stick out to me are the cover for the viewing screen and the switch from off to test to on. The switch is small and may be tough to move with gloves on. The lcd screen cover flips up , but there is no seal to keep moisture out. Hope the screen is sealed good to body of the cam.

I was under the impression this was a black flash , from reading the qdma post on it. Art said the test cam was called revolution and then said it was black flash. I can see the red led lights plain as day through the tinted cover. We will see how the deer react to the red lights. That's the biggest disappointment is it not being true black flash

Picture and video quality day or night is the best out of all the cams I own. Great sound as well

Setup was easy. You need the remote that come with the cam to set it up. The remote is very small. I would compare it to a box of matches.

I hope to put this cam in use starting this weekend so should have videos to put up by the following weekend.

The screen is internally sealed, so no worries on that. I had one out in our rain storm the other night, got about 2-3" in 5 hours, and not a drop inside the seals. Water issues are likely to be minimal with this cam model because of the over-engineering done on it specifically for water damage prevention.

Revolution and Patriot were different models - only major difference being the submersion ability. Upon testing, the Patriot proved to be 99.9% of what the Revolution was intended to be from a waterproofing perspective and the Patriot model was then moved forward as the flagship model. I too can see the illuminators, but they are not brake light like, like some other models. I am sure development will only improve on that front.

Since your cam just arrived, it likely already has the updated firmware. If by small chance you notice night illumination appearing to be limited (ie as if night range is real short), you may need to see if the cam has the latest firmware.

I think the potential for these cams is great. Being a first year, first run cam, it is what I would call "ahead of the curve" for a typical company just starting out. Any issues that might become more well-known will likely be addressed promptly.

The text pics I get during the day (haven't set the cam in the woods yet, beyond my backyard) are absolutely unreal. The clarity is impressive. The remote use is new for me, except for the wired remotes for the older Scoutguards. I fear losing them, but since the cam has a holder built into it, I "shouldn't" lose it.

I am looking forward to the Recruit model with the 50 degree FOV.
