During a period of high firearms demand and sales, some companies are selling more firearms than ever, but some are hurting.  Remington is one of the casualties.  However, they have only themselves to blame.

Honestly didn't even know Remington makes guns. Just the word Remington sounds cheap. Makes me think of this old crappy hunting jacket I have that says Remington on the tag.

One comment in that link made an important point: Remington spent a small fortune fleeing from NYS. That had to hurt, and it wasn't entirely their fault.

Other than that, it's like any other corporate entity that makes stupid long-term business decisions in order to pander to short-term stockholders.

The product has suffered, and the name has gone with it.

I'll keep my older Remmy's, but I don't intend to buy any new ones.
