I'll start gently tickling horns together mid October and get more aggressive as we roll into Nov. 

I've had success with a decoy in November at my Iowa lease never tried one in NY.

If in a spot with a good buck to die ratio there is not a bad time of the season to rattle! Decoys can be iffy any time of the season.
