philoshop
Has anyone had one of these tanks discharge for no apparent reason? Not a quick discharge, but a sneaky sort of slow seepage? I've gone to all snap-type plumbing fittings, Shark-bites etc, and the only thing I use the torch for now is lighting my wood-stove. I've owned and used these torches for about 40 years though, so I have a bit of history with them.. I installed a new propane tank on the the head of my torch today and went back to my desk twenty feet away. (It's a small house). When I started to smell propane and realized the torch was only about 8 feet from the hot wood-stove, I was immediately concerned. I'm not interested in stirring up conspiracy theories, but if I hadn't been paying attention this afternoon I would have been David Bowie's "Rocket Man", and my house would be a smoking crater right now. The average Joe Homeowner would have set that torch on his basement workbench within a couple of feet of his open-flame water heater...."And I think it's going to be a long, long time..." wooly
Do you have another tank you can put the regulator on and soap it up to check for leaks?

I've put the regulator on two different tanks; and the tanks on two different known-to-be-working regulators,
philoshop
I heat my house with wood, and I've absolutely discovered the big drawback to being an 'ex-smoker"....There is not a match or lighter in my entire house right now, the stove is full of wood,I have no way to light it, and the MAPP torch seems to want to burn my hand off rather than just light my fire. I'll fix it all tomorrow with a new torch and a big bag of Bic lighters. :-] I'll almost certainly buy a twelve-pack of beer as well.
