water water everywhere

Water, water everywhere and not a place to fish. I want to do some stream fishing for trout and can't get near a stream. The river is high, wide and brown. The small streams are over their banks and there is no way to fish them. I guess if I want to fish ,I will have to go to Cannonsville reservoir to fish. I am not big on fishing ponds, lakes, or reservoirs, but I hear that they are catching browns from shore in Cannonsville. Is there anyone who knows how to fish for them from shore. What is the best set up. do you use bait or lures. If useing lures , what is best?

water is so high now it may be the end of the month befor we can get out. I sure wish it was down I would love to be on the beaverkill or the west branch.
