Closest turkey with poults for me was like 5 yards. It was raining out and she was brooding three under her when they all sprung up into a tree. Straight up.  Looked like a small pile of wood on the ground.  All the birds joined together for a total 19 birds with one bearded hen that year.  They use to walk by me, up in the deer stand on a grasshopper run, winking as they walked by.]
