My single ATV trailer project

Recommended Posts

So I mentioned before that I spent some time getting my little utility trailer together so I could pick up the quad I bought a few weeks ago. Well, I finally had the time to finish it up. It started out as one of those fold up utility trailers that I bought about 10 or 12 years ago. Back then I used it to haul around my old wheeler and lots of other stuff. One time I let my buddy use it to haul his wheeler to camp, he slapped a ball on the bumper of his S10 and ended up jack knifing it while backing up in a parking lot. Rather than straighten it out, he just pushed it, still jack knifed, and bent the hell out of the tounge. I ended up welding a new one together and welded the trailer frame in the middle so it was stronger and would no longer fold. For years it got used and abused and finally ended up parked in my fathers back yard, where he hit it multiple times with his tractor, broke all the lights and bent all of the brackets. Needless to say, I wasnt happy about it, so I finally brought it home, sanded and sprayed it with some flat black, straightened out the brackets, put a new set of lights on it, and used some 2x6s I had around as runners and added eyelets for tie downs. Tonight I made some ramps out of a couple of 4 foot 2x6 pieces and shipping brackets from a treadmill my dad bought, which I bent and drilled how I needed them to be. All total, I have $45 into this trailer (not counting the original purchase price because in all the years I have had it, it has paid for itself too many times over to count), not too bad.
