zeus1gdsm
After a year of neglect I was finally able to connect with my buddy to redo our poor man's plot. We had great success the first year. Second year after neglect weeds took over most of it. But the deer still browsed through. This year it is fully over grown with brambles. We spent a few hours. Getting rid of downed trees, branches. I weed whacked everything down about half its height. From an average 3 feet to 1.5-2feet tall. We then went through with glyphosate and sprayers and soaked everything. I plan on going back in a week to get some cams out there and to check the effectiveness of the spray. And respray parts if needed. I'm looking at seed blends now. We did a clover blend the first year. But to be honest it just didnt grow well even after limeing the soil (which actually tested pretty well before lime). It never achieved it's possible height. We took it down to the dirt the first year. Broke up the soil and raked in the seed. This year more trees are down so there will be more light in our little 20x40yard plot in the middle of the woods. I'm looking at just whacking down the dead plants and heavily heavily broadcasting in a seed blend. Without working it into the soil. Probably a full 50lb bag. Just to be sure. I was looking at whitetail institute pure attraction. But then saw their no-plow blend. I'd like the plot to hold food similair to snowpeas, and winter oats, into the end of November . Recomendations on a seed blend for my purposes? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
G-Man
the only chance you have to make anything last in small plot is brassica and winter rye. perhaps with a clover. do not over seed!!! it is the fastest way to make a plot fail

I figured since I am not clearing down to the soil and am leaving the layer of dead weeds I should throw .5x more seed to ensure higher chance of getting the seed in contact with soilSent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
