noodle one
For years I have used baking soda to help eliminate human odor while deer hunting. I put it all over myself and in my hair and have found that it works great. Most people know that baking soda has many uses. My doctor told me of one use that I never knew. Let me give you a little history, I have gout, everyone in my family has it and it can be hell. Gout comes from to much uric acid in the body. Uric acid can also cause kidney stones. I have had many kidney stones and always been lucky to pass them with little or no problems, until last month. I had to have emergency surgery to remove a large stone from my left kidney that I could not pass. (4 and one half X 1/2") . The doctor had to go in and blast it. The doctor told me that the stone was made up of mostly uric acid. This week I had a follow up with the surgeon and he told me that my left kidney was clear of kidney stones, but I have one in my right kidney. Both he and the kidney doctor told me to drink a lot of water, Bottled water. I have well water at home. I was told that well water is not good for people with kidney stones unless it is filtered through a charcoal filter. The surgeon told me that by drinking a lot of water the stone would not grow, he also told me that one thing that will break down a kidney stone made up with uric acid is baking soda. He told me that he drank some himself to see how it would taste and he said it taste awful, but if I could handle it, to drink one tsp in 10 to 12 oz. of water in the morning and evening and it would take time, but it would break down the stone so I could pass it. This is only for people with high uric acid. I must worn you that if you try this that the first time you do, you want to be able to stay home because, it will clean you out like you have never been cleaned out before. I may have used to much baking soda the first time. I hope that this helps, because it has been over a month and I am just starting to feel good from the surgery. Geno C
So did drinking the baking soda help pass the other stone? you should deff invest in a filtered water system... i used to drink crystal light like it was going out of style, i know real manly right lol. But my fiance would yell at me all the time and tell me how bad it is for me. so now all i drink is filtered water. its funny that someone brought up baking soda, because i was wondering if anyone used it to test wind direction in the woods. i never used it before out in the woods but i was wondering if deer could pick it up? i always thought baking soda had a slight distinct smell to it thus deer be able to pick the scent of it up. noodle one
Gono C, No I have not passed the stone. The doctor said it would take time and I have only been drinking it for a couple of day now. Baking soda is great for covering up and eliminate human odor. I use it all the time in the deer woods.

noodle one
sweet old bill, That is a hard question to answer. I have to drink a lot of water to keep the stone from growing. I also drink cranberry juice and lemonade as they both are good for helping to break down stones. I don't take to much baking soda, because to much of it can cause high blood pressure, and I don't need that. If it breaks down slowly, I won't feel it passing. I will know more in three months when I see the doc. again for another ultrasound to check the size. As far as blasting it, that won't happen unless it moves and I can not pass it. sweet old bill
I read your damm post and went the next day to have my yearly physical, after 2 hours there I was setup for a test at the hospital to check me out with have some damm test that you had to drink about a qt of crap, also have some other material pumped into your arm as you then into the MRI machine. Well the good news is they found one small kidney stone, but since it is not giving me any problems they say I may just pass it. So please do not post any more on this medical issue as it can get you just from reading the damm post. Bill

noodle one
Noddle one how did you get your ncik name ?? I keep think it was due to fishing and using a noddle rod... Bill , You hit it right on the nail. I fish with a center pin and noodle rod. I love to fish steelhead on the salmon river and big trout on the west branch Delaware river . I am the inventer of a casting aid to help people cast a center pin. Yes that is the reason I picked noodle one.
