870 barrel question

Hey guys I have a remington 870 Express Super Magnum, with a vent ribbed barrel. Are there any cantilever express super magnum barrels out there? I hav elooked and cant seem to find any.

I don't know if they are available or not, Jimbo.

If you can't find one, there is always the option of buying an aftermarket cantilever that will attach to the rib on your vent rib barrel.

I used one for my 11-87 for awhile when I was using a Bushnell Holosight for turkey hunting.

I got mine from B-Square Inc. It came complete with scope rings and could be bought for several different vent rib widths.

For what purpose are you seeking a cantilever barrel for your 870 ?

If you want it for a slug gun, the 3.5" supermag is not necessary. Do they even MAKE 3.5 " slugs..??.. Jeeze, I hope not..I'd hate to SHOOT one...<<grin>>..

If that's what you want it for, I suspect a regular 3" or 2 3/4" 870 barrel would work on your supermag receiver.

Lightfield makes 31/2" sabot slugs.

Not sure for whose rifled barrels though?

Oh ok so I can put a regular express magnum barrel on the supermagnum reciever? Ive seen those barrels, just not the super mag

Yes, I believe you can safely use a barrel from a regular 870 Express ( or a Wingmaster for that matter) on a Supermag reciever.

Rather than do it on MY say-so, please confirm that with the manufacturer or a gunsmith before you do it.
