Pygmy
I'm about to apply for my NB moose tag. Odds of drawing are significantly better than any US drawing ( except AK, which is mostly OTC). Quebec and Ontario have tags available, but success rates are much lower than NB. A guide or outfitter IS required for non-residents in NB, but rates are reasonable and harvest rates are fairly high compared to Quebec or Ontario. BizCT
If you draw a tag, I suggest Stony Brook Outfitters in Maine. He also has a lodge in New Brunswick. My Dad took a bear with him and a bobcat with him.
Pygmy
Thanks, Biz-R.. I have a friend who has his guide's license in NB. I took a bull hunting with him in 2004, the only time I drew a tag up there. I appreciate the info, however..
hunter
Good luck Pygmy I'm gonna apply again in Maine myself for the same reason. I have friends that will guide me. For all those interested in a Canada Moose hunt, they have OTC tags in Newfoundland and Labradour. I can't afford that but might do a fall bear hunt in Maine or Canada. Pygmy
Hunter, good luck on the Maine draw... I applied there for about 20 years and finally gave up. Having said that, you can't WIN if you don't PLAY. If you get lucky and draw, Maine has very high success rates, and there are some fine moose in Maine. Yeah, Newfoundland is OTC, and there are plenty of moose there, albeit not a lot of big racks. It is indeed becoming pricey. You best be prepared to spend around 5K door to door.
