45 Long Colt in a hunting revolver

What do you guys think? I can easily load the Blackhawk to the heels of 44 Mag, The single actions have a nice natural point to them. I was thinking a 240 Gr Speer Hot Core with 25 grs of 296 gives 1250 FPS and 833' lbs. Inside of 50 yds, that will anchor a deer. After this season a nice in-close sidearm in the treestand would be a nice complement to the 270 WSM. The end of the shooting lanes are out at 200 to 225 yds so the short mag locks those shots nicely. There are a few close in trails on these stands that will put deer in tight, some within 15 yds. My Ruger Blackhawk has a 5 1/2 inch barrel.

It will do just fine. My old man used to use his 7" Ruger all the time in Putnam County. It can be pushed to velocities close to a .44 yet with a bigger bullet. I believe he was using 230's.
