Who is "local " or northern that you would recommend? Erie county soil and water has chestnuts and crabappes this year, a local nursery in wny is shecktels in springville. But a quick search should show up close if you want larger plants. I've had very good luck with national arbor association trees/shrubs as well and are guaranteed they will not ship early if local weather prevents it.
