Cleaning dies

Does anyone clean their dies . I had some 223 dies that I left in my turret press for well over a year . They had accumulated a bit of ferrous oxide on the outside so I decided I had better smarten up , clean them up and put them away . I took them apart and used some very fine steel wool inside and out . They cleaned up quite easily . I put a light coat of oil on their outside and wiped them down .

I guess I am getting lazy in my old age .
