WNYBuckHunter
I counted up the deer that you all reported in the HuntingNY.com Deer Take Survey for 2011 (http://huntingny.com...er-take-survey/) and came up with some different statistics based on those numbers. I will explain each statistic as I go. Here are the take numbers broken down by season in which the deer was taken... Deer taken by HuntingNY.com members: Deer taken by non-members: Number of HNY.com members that shot 2 bucks in 2011 - 12 Number of non-members that shot 2 bucks in 2011 - 5 Number of HNY.com members (as of 2-1-2012) - 1918 Number of HNY.com members that reported deer kills - 67 Number of non-members that reported deer kills - 35 The first stat I thought Id look at is the percentage of members that took 2 bucks in 2012. The second was just something to look at, and i know its not very accurate, but if you figure 1/2 of the total members hunted deer (959), and 1/4 of them knew about the survey (240). Of that number, 67 actually reported, you are looking at only a 28% reporting rate. This was just something a member suggested and I came up with quick. Next year, I am going to delve a little deeper into it and add more things to report, such as how many DMPs each person got, and ask people to report even if they didnt get any deer. Maybe we can get some more numbers like a closer success rate, etc.
