Maine Black Bear Den Streaming Cam

Thought some of you might find this as cool as I do. The Wildlife Research Foundation in Maine has a streaming black bear den cam. I've been checking in multiple times each day (I have it so that it streams on my TV also). It's a female (Lugnut) that had 2 cubs back on 1/16/12. They are bigger now and with spring upon us, momma and the cubs are getting more active. If the cubs aren't sleeping, they can be seen crawling around on momma, nursing, yawning, and checking out the cam! You can hear sounds that they make also! Pretty neat! Momma changes positions frequently and has a radio collar and a tag in her ear, that might help you figure out what end is what! I am expecting to see momma leave the den soon. She looked up and yawned a few times yesterday and even stood up to stretch, but then just changed positions and went back to sleep.

There's not a whole lot of action, but it sure is interesting to see this side of their world!

Be sure to check out the link on the left side of the homepage called "Cubs climb all over momma". She is sitting up and you get a good view of the cubs near the cam at ~2 weeks old. (Might help to enlarge the video to full screen.) Be patient, it might take a couple minutes for it to connect to the live stream.
