Pav2704
This past weekend I finally made it up to my property in Richmondville. I figured since the weather was so nice I'd get a jump on my food plots. Over the winter I purchased the Kolpin Dirtwork attachments, I can't believe how easy it made the work. Last year I rented a rototiller from agway but it's definately was lot of back breaking work. Here are some of the pics. I also found a shed near the pond. Pretty nice weekend!!! Ford
I always enjoy to see other members property. I wish more would post pictures of their spots, besides trail cam shots. I needed to rototill about a half acre for a food plot last year. After thinking about buying impements and what not (still want them, but expensive) I found a local gent that did it for less than 200. Eventually I will get what I need, but he came in with the mega tiller, lol. and had it done in no time. Where did you get that attachment? Any more info? Thanks. I purchased the attachments (Kolpin's Dirtwork Series) from Cabelas over the winter while they were on sale. You need to buy the 3point hitch first since all attachments hook onto it. I got the tiller attachment and rake. Definately a lot easier than the rototiller!!! I would of had someone come with tractor, however, I don't have that option being that the property is real hilly. It is definately nice to see other people's property. I will post more pictures later in the season.
CJBeav
What are you planting? Soo much to choose from.
Fantail
Last weekend of March - went up to camp to roundup a 1/8 acre size new plot I'm planning to expand into. There was hardly anything to spray on that area, so I didn't. I mean the grass & weeds were just starting to pop up through leaves. Another plot, rye & some clover is poping, could be turned but I'd rather get the tilling work done over a weekend. And wouldn't it make sence to turn it a week after spraying? The main clover plot I'm hoping to broadcast seed before a good rain without tilling to refresh it. Edited April 2, 2012 by Fantail
SplitG2
Faintail, for me spraying a plot with gly than tilling it under doesn't do much, since you will be disturbing the soil and releasing dormant seed. If you plan on doing a no plow or drilling in seed than spraying is the way to go. For your clover, you should have frost seeded some white clover the end of February however it's going to be warm during the day and under 30 at night so get the clover in now. Took that advice and did that. Clover plot size will be about 1/3 acre (I think), I raked it out scratching the dirt, put down 40lb of 8-8-8 & 1/2 acre bag of antler king clover. Avg ph is 6. Should have some light rain next 3 days. Edited April 9, 2012 by Fantail
