TeeBugg
Just wondering if anybody tagged one or two yet?
Cabin Fever
I took my daughter out during the youth season. On the second day, I called in a jake. She missed at 20 yards! She was crushed to miss such a gimme shot! Took my son out last weekend, but the woods were dead. Didn't hear or see a thing. Believe it or not, I haven't even heard a shot yet between the youth season and the first weekend of the regular season! Pretty bad!! TeeBugg
I've only heard a handful of shots since opening day. Same as you the woods have been dead. Strange season to say the least

TeeBugg
It was a beautiful morning! I ran into a hen at about 20 yards. Finally saw a bird!
Woodsman20
It has been a weird a sping weather wise. My brother, father and I all got birds - 3 of the first 5 days. Then it tanked. I passed on one small Tom earlier this week but the activity really dropped off. The weather shook them up a bit. Driving around I have seen 3-4 Toms in fields and a few hens here and there but I do not think they are moving or gobbling a lot. There may even be an insect hatch that is coccurring earlier keeping them in the very "leafy" forest (at least this early in the season. I would recommend hunting the woods, or the edges of fields with really really light calling right now. Best of luck - it should improve in the upcoming weeks. Also, just because you don't here gobbles don't give up. Look for tracks, droppings and scratches - some late season tactics but it will show you where they are moving in your areas. TeeBugg
Yeah me an the kiddo are headed out in the morning. Didn't get a chance to try an roost one tonite. So fingers are crossed for the morning. Hunted this spot today and bumped a hen unfortunately. She came out of some thick stuff 15 yards in front of me. But she did lead me to some good sign of turkeys so that's a little uplifting. Good luck!
