  1. I found a Pre '81 Browning BLR in .308 Win. Great condition, Belguim made. All original. Anyone interested, send me a message. Hard to find.
  2. Puerto Rico, Isla del Encanto, Iguana Invasion. Invasive Species, estimate by US Fish and Wildlfe biologists, 6-8 Million. Average weight of an adult Iguana, 7-13 pounds. Hunted relentlessly with air rifles only. Conventional firearms are illegal to use. Shooting range: 25-50 yards. Devestating agricultural losses due to voracious appetites of the Iguanas. What a bloody ecological, agricultural/ environmental mess.
  3. A Marlin 336 in .25-35 Win., Hornady Flex Tip bullet., lots of fun, easy on the shoulder, and turns coyotes into fur collars. Not recommended for Deer, but in the hands of a capable marksman who knows the limitations and acts prudently, the 25-35 Win., will perform just fine. 125 yards, that's the limit.
  4. I'll answer your questions. If a man witnesses a criminal act, and has the capacity and ability to intervene, and he does not, then he is as culpable as the criminal commiting an offense. This is my law, my morality, my way of life. As for the rattlesnakes, they have a place in nature just like the deer and the grouse. Any more questions? Happy Thanksgiving
  5. County and Township does no harm. Specific locations will endanger the rattlers. I'd love to catch a poacher.
  6. If Winchester would have christened the .358 Win., the 9.1 X 51 Empire State Magnum, it would have been the most popular sought after cartridge since WW 2. Gut shot at birth, and moribund ever since. The All American Cartridge Tragedy !!!!
  7. I grew up on a farm in NY State , with heavy "concentrations" of Timber Rattlers. The common coloration was predominately dark, although some light color specimens were observed. A few times, even the melanistic color phase was seen. DEC has the rattler listed now as "threatened". Good call by DEC. It was common back in the early 60's to drive the dirt gravel back roads in the evening during July/August, and go 'rattling. This is what the big boys did, I was a 'youngin soon to see many of those big fellows march off to south east asia. Those 'rattlin rodeos, were a big deal. I knew where the dens were, little fellows running around the country side knows the lay of the land. We are talking about 55 years ago... Many places that I hunted and fished, are now built up. You can read into my metaphoric intentions here, but once you start loosing one species, more critters start falling soon after like dominoes. I'll go out on a limb here. NY DEC, the scientists, the biologists, the wardens, and most of the hunters and fisherman are the most unique assortment of sportsmen and conservationists in the world. Suny universities kick out world class wildlife caretakers. There is no huge funding really, to save a snake. I don't want to see the Big Apple Cascavel exterminated no more then the grouse or any other species of critter. DEC in a round about way, saved 22,000 acres of Sterling Forest, Orange County, by purchasing it for 55 million dollars. Quite a few cascaveles in that chunk of forest. I am so much looking foward to seeing a NY rattler again. The politics sucks. The gun laws suck. The taxes suck. The liberal onslaught sucks. But there is no place like home, no place like N.Y. Thank You.
  8. have you ever seen a Rattlesnake in Dutchess County NY ?
  9. 1976 Browning, BLR, .358 Win. Leupold 1-5 X , EGW mounts, Leupold PRW rings. Take your pick, 180 grain to 250 grain. Magazine feed, laser beam accurate, flawless operation .
  10. How has the Safe Act impacted you, the hunter, shooter, collector, farmer ??
  11. gotta be close to that big tall communications tower
  12. If you run around the woods, you need to be careful. It's a very well defined mathamatical equation. The destruction of the rattlesnake population produces anomolies in the balance of nature. I don't like snakes, at all! But I respect the animal and give them a wide berth. Given the choice between the rabid liberal political vermin infesting my country, and a rattler, I opt to keep and protect the rattler.
  13. Well, you must of had something that cascavel wanted☺, where did this occur?
  14. South slopes, pine groves, 1,800 feet elevation??
  15. I would be very interested to learn what counties and townships you folks have been observing rattlesnakes. Time of year, and approximate length of the rattler(s).
  16. Has anyone seen a Rattlesnake during the NY Gun Season?
  17. did you kill him with your 45-70?
  18. Any Handloaders using Hornady Flex Tip Bullets. Any recovered bullets from game? Tissue damage? Killing Qualities?
