  4. Since I've been long and far from all the action for quite a spell, deer herd numbers in good shape in SZ? Quality of bucks gotten better? Anyone have any great revelations about the deer hunt- ing that will cheer me up?
  5. Like it or not, it's all about Money and Ego, and The Cabela Boy mentality of Wildlife Prostitution. Bring big bags of money. All you fellows with a wife, kids, mortgages, bank notes to pay, you'll be deer hunting in your dreams. It'll be just like Texas and everywhere else you pay or you don't hunt private lands. Pay the Madame, pay the land broker, same ugly bloody thing.
  6. there were not many deer around when I was a kid, some big bears.
  7. I really must make a pilgramage back to my old stomping ground.

  18. warms my heart that fellows like you still exist. I hope I get to be on one more drive, time flys, I agree, a 2 man drive can be very productive. problem is Uncle Fester, world full of Festers, we are a rare breed indeed! t
  19. walking is jam up and jelly tight with me. beats sitting in a blind, sitting on the couch, or doing yard work. I am afraid the days for deer drives are coming to a screaching halt sooner then we expect.
  20. Uncle Nicky, very very few I will hunt with anymore. It's not about killing, not about antlers, not about ego, not about a bloody thing but being outdoors, and spending the day ruminating what the last 50 years have been like. I won't be in the woods next Saturday, but I'll be thinking of how wonderful it will be next year. P.S., I have hunted porkers in the East Texas Piney Woods, so I know that going after the porkers with a Bowie must be quite a thrill. Could of used you in the middle east, ha ha!
  21. badly managed deer drives are as bad as poorly organized family reunions. The Uncle Fester Syndrome. no excuse for poor dangerous gun handling. hunting pigs with a spear, about as primordal as you can get. Please, comment to the cows come home, your thoughts well appreciated.
