  1. Nice, how big was the biggest king? Where did you fish out of, and private charter of yours/friend's boat?
  2. Mountain Lion hands down! Elongated tail, plus look at its gait, ain't no way its a European fly or whatever, sure that is what the DEC wants us to believe.... I know a guy who took a picture of one of these and that's exactly what the DEC told him. Maybe the DEC planted European flies here to discredit all our trail cam photos of Mt. Lions.
  3. True, I suppose I would just rather I be able to make the judgement call. Not legislation. Then again I'd imagine I do show much more restraint and tact than others out there so perhaps your correct. Lord knows we don't need any more bad press for hunting/hunters. Still, if someone tells me "no" I can't go recover a deer off their property thats well within their right, even now with the current distances, so I don't see that as a big point. We all know some deer can get the wind behind them and go till the last breath.
  4. which some would argue are the only humane and or ethical shots to take with the bow
  5. Yeah, I think its time to drop this nonsense. Antler feels that hunting over a food plot is not hunting. If you disagree and provide parallels those parallels are discredited, if you disagree and provide definitions those definitions (or the minds behind them) are discredited. He will continue to argue the semantics of each and every statement anyone makes against his view. And 8 pages later TADA he still disagrees with fact. (all while referring to the activity he does not believe to be hunting as HUNTING out of a tree stand, HUNTING using a food plot etc. in every last post). I believe he is smarter than this, and is just enjoying sharpening his debate skills. ;D
  6. Wow, their resilience is amazing.
  7. Yeah I'm glad baiting is illegal here, not my kind of hunting
  8. Utilizing the provided definitions of "hunt" and "pursue," it is apparent that by definition utilizing a tree stand, food plot, or any other means with the end goal of having an opportunity to take a deer is in FACT hunting. Not your style of hunting, below you, considering it not challenging enough, too much waiting = All statements that can be made without disputing FACT. Lol but if your hunting bear eating that candy bar could be considered BAITING, and like that we are back on topic! YAY
  9. I'm torn on the issue of the severity here. I know he influences people and his actions set an example far beyond any "ma and pop." However since when does fame mean a forfeiture of the rights to a unbiased litigation (by biased I mean a stronger punishment than most). I just kind of thought everyone is supposed to be equal under the eyes of the law. It is disheartening to hear about politicians, stars, teachers, and anyone else in the public eye doing something wrong, but they are "held to a higher standard" and therefore get a hammer dropped on them when caught. RIIIGHT! A person with prior convictions (unless of a specifically similar type) is given a fair shake and his history is inadmissible in court. Just food for thought. I suppose their fame and fortune or position also helps them get away with stuff at times, so maybe that's whats factored in. I'm no expert, just provoking thought.
  10. The weight on arrows is measured in GPI (grains per inch) with factors considered including material, wall thickness and shaft diameter. Different Beman 340 models have different GPI weights. A lighter arrow will be traveling faster as it leaves the bow, but will slow down quicker than a heavier arrow. Thus having less speed at point of impact (unless a point blank shot). Then the arrow spine comes into play which would affect accuracy as high force of air is placed on a faster (lighter) arrow. There is a good article on this http://archeryreport.com/2011/01/heavy-vs-light-arrows-speed-power/ Hope it helps.
  11. See the second definition..... Definition of PURSUEtransitive verb1 : to follow in order to overtake, capture, kill, or defeat 2 : to find or employ measures to obtain or accomplish : seek <pursue a goal> (yeah, its Websters...) ;D
  12. ? Right, well all circular logic aside.... When your waiting with a rod and reel in hand I still call it fishing, when your trolling lines off the back of a boat moving at 5 knots I still call it fishing....
  13. Greedy person.... Every opportunity and you throw it all away, for what, a couple extra ducks?
  14. Well you yourself have a difficult enough time seperating it from the definition of hunting (or a hunting activity) so I guess even as an activity it still has a DEFINITIVE definition Following excerpt from Meriam-Webster Dictionary (any disputes of their writings can be taken up with them) 1hunt verb \ˈhənt\Definition of HUNT transitive verb a : to pursue for food or in sport <hunt buffalo> b : to manage in the search for game <hunts a pack of dogs> A more proper and slightly less confrontational statement would be- its not the way I chose to hunt. As opposed to- its not hunting to me.
  15. "that it has anything to do with what i think of how other choose to enjoy their hunting experience... not true... I really do not care how others hunt.. " There we go, finally the part that irked me is over with (the insinuation that hunting over, around, or utilizing food plots is "not hunting"). See it doesn't really matter if it's not "hunting" to you, that would be like me arguing that "TO ME" a Hyundai isn't a car. Simple facts and the very definition are against this statement. Or I could just dispute this for page upon page of a thread.
  16. Nice short gestation period. Cool stuff.
  17. Nice, do you breed intentionally, or do they just "get together?"
  18. I saw the program on very early this morning. Believe it or not a couple of the canned hunting operations they video taped / spied on for the show are right here in NY. I knew there were operations here but didn't know this would be one of their focused areas (here and TX). I bet it is just because they feel they can get a chunk of New Yorkers to say "WHAT?!?! Here in NY? I better put a stop to this!" There are many states with a bigger draw of such places, but none that would probably have a voice so loud against such places. Just a shame that the non-hunting population will be swayed against true hunting by this sort of program about this false hunting.
  19. Got him in 3m. SZ Bow opener, with in 2 hours of day break. Shanked a shot on a 8 pointer about 45 minutes earlier, and I consider myself lucky I did, because my adrenaline dump had happened and there was NO shaky legs when he rolled in at 17 yards.
  20. LOL yeah, my bad, 200 a foot seems to fit better there thanks
  21. Yeah thanks. Haven't quite figured how to display it yet. Gonna finish the trophy area and see how it would best fit (wall vs over sofa etc.)
  22. Actually sounds pretty neat. Might give that one a try....
