  1. Yea, they are two different places I was referring to. I figured if you were going on your own, then the DEP properties in East Fishkill may be closer to home. As for Lafayetteville, I also run Taconic to the 199 exit. Wilbur Flats Road is closed during the winter. I park by the main fields.
  2. Unfortunately, the shot is always the hard part. The shotgun can certainly have it's advantages when it comes to the running shots. Of course, distracting them is the main thing. You said you have mojo's?
  3. If you have a DEP permit, you should try the old camp property on 52. I've definitely seen them in there. Big Buck MUA, may also be a good bet, as I've seen them in there also.
  4. I'll tell you where I think would be a good spot to set up over there-right on that small hill on the left side of the field. You can literally see across the fields, and into the valley from there. You'd nail them before they even got there.
  5. The .22 would definitely be good enough for me. We'll set up something for this hunt. Steve says he can't do it till next weekend-that's good for me. How's it look on your schedule?
  6. Agreed, although the .50 ML would definitely put a hurting on them. I've taken coyotes with the ML before.
  7. Well, to be honest, I would do it, but I am definitely not prepared for that. All I currently have, is a .410 single shot, and .50 caliber ML.
  8. The snow is a huge plus-they'll stick out like a sore thumb-even at night. I actually have snow camo.
  9. I figure, since we had snow during the night before, these tracks were definitely early morning. They weren't deformed at all. I'll be more than happy to kill some coyotes. We'll have to come up with a plan on that. I figure if we can get there fairly early, we should be able to call some in.
  10. Guys, if you want a spot to hunt coyotes, you may seriously want to consider Lafayetteville MUA. I went over there today for small game, and the coyote, and fox tracks were ridiculous, to say the least-the coyotes being the most prevalent. It was the damnedest thing I'd ever seen. We all know how deer have "runs". Well, there were coyote "runs". I've never seen so many tracks in my life! It is something that avid 'yote hunters may want to consider.
  11. Was windy as all hell in Poughkeepsie at about 3:00 AM on this morning. Not so bad now, but, boy, it was howling at that time. I thought I was going to get blown off the road!
  12. Hopefully, it can be done again. I'm willing to meet up with someone over there, to do some hunting.
  13. Oh, yea-we went out. Bagged 4 of them, but seen many more. Had a great time doing it, with the exception of the wind, which sucked, to say the least!
  14. Also, we didn't cover a big area at all. We pretty much stayed within a 20 acre area. There were definitely no shortage of squirrels.
  15. I used my .410 single shot. Elmo, and his brother Pete, used 12's, and Shawn used his air rifle. We were there for, I would say, maybe 5 hours. We did see a lot of squirrels, but we didn't sit in any spots too long though, because of the wind. If there had been no wind, and we just spread out, and sat, there's no question we would have bagged many more.
  16. Oh, we were talking about air rifles, which are legal over there.
  17. Otherwise, I would opt for a .22 air rifle, if possible. Has better knock down power.
  18. Try the hollowpoints, and see what happens.
  19. Actually, yes we did. There were 4 of us. 4 squirrels were taken, but many more were seen. More than likely, the take would have been better, but the damned wind was horrible. It was a blast, as far as I was concerned. It was me, ShawnHu, Elmo, and his brother Pete, who is in the Army. Great bunch of guys.
  20. That sucks, but certainly understandable. Hope to see you maybe on another weekend at Stewart, if you get the chance.
  21. I know I'm definitely going, although, as Walt pointed out, the weather is not going to be great.
