Yea. I'm heading up to 3G this afternoon. I need all the luck I can get!
-
I did use the ML this year. But, I also pay just as much for a ML tag, as I do for the regular season tag. I guess my idea was, that if something were changed a little, it might bring more much needed revenue for hunting. Just pondering, that's all.
-
Exactly. It just baffles the mind. After all, everything else starts on Saturday-why not ML?
-
Now, I honestly don't know if this has been posted before. If it has, I apologize. Having said that, I think the ML season should be longer. How about a 2 week gun, 2 week ML season? At the very least, I think that if the ML is only going to be 9 days, then it should be 2 weekends, and 5 weekdays. Just my opinion on the subject.

Pulled the trigger on a doe this morning. Unfortunately, I got the infamous "pop"-!@#!@#! misfire! Oh well-try this afternoon.
-
I saw absolutely nothing this morning, and nothing this afternoon. Be out in the morning. Boy, that wind sure sucked, though!
-
Ouch!! That one has got to hurt!
-
The ears have to be at least 1/2" in height, and the tail has to be at least 10", LOL.

The biggest buck I ever got, was a 9, that dressed at 173.25 lbs. I actually arrowed him at 20 yards right after a thunderstorm, with swirling winds, and a cigarette hanging out of my mouth. No BS! I was hunting 35 acres of woods, that was literally surrounded by developments. I figure he was used to the scents, sounds, etc., of the area. Didn't phase him in the least when the wind circulated the smoke around to him. More rural areas, where human encroachment is non existent, however, may have had a different outcome. Where I hunt now, people are constantly burning leaves, etc., and it doesn't seem to phase them.
-
The problem is, how do you have the "earn a buck" program in areas where there are no doe permits? This could very well put excessive pressure on areas where doe permits are available, rhetorically speaking.

My experience has been that the bow tag says bow/mz. I've never seen it different since they redid the licensing system. Usually what happens, is on the bow (if you buy the bow first), it will be either sex. If you also get the muzzleloader, it will be antlered only. I haven't had one since the re-vamping of the system, that strictly said bow.

Definitely satisfied down here. I saw 10 of them on a lawn down the road from where I hunt. Now if only they would wander to where I sit. Seriously, though, there are no shortage of deer where I hunt.

D.E.C. finally nailed my neighbors baiting
13BVET replied to hb270deermanager's topic in Deer Hunting
Wow. How in the hell would that justify them baiting, one way or the other?? Gotta love the old blame game some people come up with. It would figure they wouldn't take responsibility for their own illegal activities. -
Congratulations!!!!

Actually, I was partially right on the bear hunt. A petition stopped it in 2007. To be honest, I wasn't sure what year it was. Having said that, you are correct that the courts denied the petition in later seasons.

No disrespect, SteveNY, but I honestly believe we should worry about the general publics viewpoints. The NJ bear hunt, is a prime example of what can happen when the public is fed crap from the animal rightists. If I recall, it stopped the hunt dead in it's tracks. Another prime example would be Camp Smith, outside of Peekskill. They wanted to open up deer hunting, because they are overrun with them. The animal rightists fed bs to the locals, and, because of such a massive amount of negative public feedback, it was shot down. This was actually a massive let down to hunters, because Camp Smith would be a hunters paradise. We should be much more vigil when it comes to the general public.

I'm not referring to anti's. I'm actually referring to the general public. I have a lot of friends, who don't hunt, but have nothing against it, as long as it's based on population control. Once trophy hunting comes into the picture, however, their attitude tends to change, for some reason.
-
I agree. Once the point of deer population control is taken off the board, there is really no way to justify hunting as a means to control deer numbers. The anti's would jump on this in a heartbeat. In fact, in a way, they already have. There have been articles by those losers PETA, who pretty much point to issues like this, claiming state wildlife agencies are doing things like this to grow the deer herd. Normally, I couldn't care less what they have to say. However, this could strike a chord with the general public, who has been led to believe that hunters are there to control the deer. This could bite us in the ass down the road, by losing general public support.

What are the new proposed areas?

I'll have to get more specific info on it. I do know that barrels were upgraded in later years on a lot of these rifles.

Hunting coyotes with a 22,,Anyone
13BVET replied to RifleSharpShot's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
The .22 was actually the workhorse of the rimfire family long before many of the calibers on the market today. There is no question that it was more than likely used extensively for coyotes before the newer calibers. The .22 is quite capable of taking coyotes. -
Anyone have any idea what these are worth? My father has one in beautiful, and he was curious as to the value.
-
As for the easiest powder substitute to clean out of the barrel, at least for me, is the White Hots. I literally just take a 28 gauge bore swab, push it through the barrel twice, and done. This stuff is so easy to clean from the barrel, it's unbelievable.

Even with the 209's, you'll still get significant build up.
