9 point. he is 4 on the right and 5 on the left. he broke is left G4 off half way down ( you can see that in the picture). Would have scored even higher had ne not done that. 19 1/4 wide. G2 and G3 on his right (taller side) just over 9" each.

yeah, no doubt! One of the classiest, nicest people you would ever meet too.

We had 1 target deer on our Trail Cameras and my father was lucky in getting it. He is 75 years old, has an office full of mounts (elk, mule deer, caribou, aftrican animals, and has NEVER shot a decent whitetail, i think not even anything over a 6 point even). I couldn't be happier that he is the one who got it!! A true trophy....and coulndn't have happened to a better person. He gross scored 132. And, not to make this a negative post, but for those of you who got in a pissing contest in an earlier "trail camera pic forum" post with me when i showed pictures and said he was 130-140 deer, you can stick it now!! lol. Feel free to go back in and apoligize...lmao.

this is as clear as mud...lol. Let me get this straight. I will use me for an example. I have a bow liscense, rifle liscense and a muzzleloader liscense. Without getting any doe permits or special use permits, I essentially can shoot 2 antlered deer: 1 during early season bow or late season muzzloader / bow and 1 during rifle. Lets say I shot a deer with my regular bow early season (opening day for arguments). That tag is filled. I now have 1 antlered tag left, my rifle season tag. If I use my crossbow during the early season bow hunt (those last 2 weeks), I would then use my rifle tag? And if i shot a deer then, I am done for the entire season? Is that correct? Or are you not allowed to hunt with the cross bow for an antlered deer if you filled your tag in early bow with your bow? I HATE NYS!

ok, i know this has been hashed and rehashed, so be patient here. I am utterly confused on the tag you use for Crossbow hunting. I am totally against it, but my father (who is 75 and can't draw a regular bow is looking into it) might get one. 1) From what I understand, you do not need a bow liscense or certification to use / hunt with it. 2) For us in WNY, it is the last 2 weeks of bow season it can be used (and then also the entire gun season). 3) Even though you are hunting the bow season....with technically a bow, you use your Gun tag? Would that be your regular season rifle tag? or your muzzloader tag (because i have heard both)? or is there a special "stamp" you need to get?. 4) In addition to #3, so, you shoot a buck on November 10th for example with your crossbow, you use your gun tag......then you don't have a gun tag? Or is it an ADDITIONAL tag to hunt with the cross bow. Please don't post your opinion if you aren't 100% sure. I need layman facts (I don't want to deal with the idiot DEC people). Sorry to have this topic pop up again, but this is just utterly ridiculous on behalf of our state and i am confused to say the least. Thank you in adance!

Nice! I've never hunted the ADK range, but it is on my bucket list. I know you won't shoot the biggest rack in the state, but the big woods hunting experience would just be awesome.

In the future, i will do this just for this exact reason. I can always toss them later if I decide i don't want it. I really have never cared a whole lot in the past. He is 152" regardless if he is 3.5 or 5.5 in my mind. HOWEVER, with this caliber of deer, and peoples comments, I want to know if he was a freak that could have been a future 200" deer! Who knows. We wont' know...lol.

Last year on the muzzleloader hunt, I stood up to stretch my legs and laid my TC Omega across the the armrests behind me. I thought to myself (literally did) as I put it there, you shouldn't do that, you are going to forget its behind you and knock it off. Sure as shit after standing for several minutes as I spun around my leg caught it, if fell 22' to the ground below and broke the front bipod right off the stock (and as you can imagine left a giant hole in the stock as well). I have a laser sight on my Muzzleloader (Eotech Hollowsight) so I thought for sure that it was going to be WAY off line if working at all, so even though the gun was still "shootable" i didn't even want to sit there and take that chance. This was opening fricken morning! I will say though, i sent the gun into S&W (they own TC apparently) and they sent me a brand new stock absolutely free even though I am the idiot! Also, that Eotech laser sight was dead on despite the fall....a. hell of a piece of equipment. Lesson learned!

sadly I was too late! I personally didn't care about the age until i started this thread. So many people made comments it made me want to get it aged! I called the taxidermist Sunday evening (dropped the deer off on thursday) and he already caped and capped the buck. The rest was long gone in the garbage. I was pretty bummed as now I really do want to find out if he was older than he appeared. FUTURE note in my brain to keep the lower jaw!! I will tell you where he lives if anyone wants to go dumpster diving. lol. (and, had I had it, I would have no problem sending you the pics).

I've grown up hunting with my father like you. This brings back a lot of memories of similar hunts! Congrats on the deer, but more importantly congrats on making it a special moment with your family!

WNY from lake shore to PA line has some great hunting. It is one of the best kept secrets in the deer world. And I'm ok with that!

Not a "commercial" shop. A guy who has done all my animals does taxidermy out of his house. He's located in Elma. He does incredible work!! Truly a professional at his trade.

Pretty deep. I hunted my primary stand opening day on the edge of a feed field. There was absolutely nothing moving with the warm temps. Decided to hunt my later season stand location closer to the doe bedding area the second morning.....the rest is history

I never judge a bucks age by his headgear. I was going off body size and his face, which I thought had some grey in it. He was a huge bodied deer. I don't have a scale. It took 2 grown men to get him out of the woods and a whole lot of effort on top of it. Moving him by myself to gut him was almost impossible. I would say he was 225 - 250 on the hoof. Just got the meet back from the butcher and got 70 lbs of just venison back if that helps at all?

Taxidermist also threw a quick tape on him (rough score. We didn't measure to the quarter and eight inches. Just ball park green score): Inside Spread: 14.5 Left Beam: 20 G1 Left: 7 G2 Left: 9 G3 Left: 9 G4 Left: 5 M1 Left: 5 M2 Left: 4.5 M3 Left: 4 M4 Left: 3.75 Right Beam: 21 G1 Right: 8 G2 Right: 11.5 G3 Right: 9 G4 Right: 4 M1 Left: 5 M2 Left: 4.5 M3 Left: 4 M4 Left: 3.75 Gross: 152.5. (Without the 4" in kickers). Again rough, rough score. If he was officially scored, probably a little less. Also, scored him as a typical 10, not the 12 he actually is (kickers).

Yeah, the taxidermist said he would give it to me. Probably worth it just for curiosity. The snout only measured 7 1/4. He said an average deer is 7.5 and a mature deer closer to 8. That and his teeth were pretty sharp and relatively white. He said he could possibly be 2.5, but not more than 3.5. Not that he would have lived to be 5.5 in this state, but I can only image his headgear in 3 years. Ugh.

You are absolutely correct. I just got back from the taxidermist and based on his snout measurement and his very sharp back teeth (which I didn't look back far enough) he said he is either 2.5 or 3.5!! Good lord, how big would he have been in 3 years. I feel a little guilty shooting him now. Lol
