  1. Especially since it will weigh a lot with the dry ice and venison. Those would be some expensive steaks the time you got to eat them! Regular ground will suffice, just do the due diligence in preparing it for shipping.
  2. So, one of my employees very close friends trapped this guy in Woodhull, NY. The beast weighed close to 150lbs. He contacted the DEC (because, ya know, there are no Wolves in NYS). They immediately (and without pause) said that it is just a large Coyote. I've seen some big Coyotes (like 65-70lbs), but 150?? And look at the features on him, that screams wolf to me. Is this another DEC cover up?? Thoughts? This is not through a rumor mill either. I personally know this guy.
  3. no need to ship it overnight. Pack it well.
  4. Styrofoam coaler with dry ice. Duct tape the crap out of it so it doesn't get opened. Make sure that the meat is frozen prior to packing it. It will ship just fine. Dry ice will last easily 5 days, and since it is already frozen, you can get over a week out of it. Ship on a Monday so you don't have the extra 2 weekend "non-shipping' days that it sits around. I have done it many times.
  5. well done sir! Great NY Buck!

were you drinking when you typed that entire thing without a "."? Punctuation man! lol.
  7. you can't rationalize nature. it is what it is.
  8. At $0.99 a 2 pack, i just load up on them. I agree btw. its about 50/50 on the ones that work well. I usually get about 10 packs for the week and double up if needed. don't get my wrong, i'm not saying to go in the woods in a t-shirt on a 10 degree day and just wear a necklace of heat packs...lol. I'm bundled to the hilt. I bring a thermos with a hot beverage. I use those as just an added supmement, but am prepared to sit in the cold with our without them.
  9. This isn't directed at anyone who replied here, so nobody get their panties in a wad, but hunters are some of the most selfish people on earth. I include myself in that statement. We all think we own the woods. We all think we own the deer. We all think because we have a trail camera picture that nobody else can shoot that deer. Its a rather funny (not haha, but ironic) group of people.
  10. The funny part of it is, he thought he shot a 6 point that he passed up the day before. It came through some thick brush, he saw it had a rack, waited for a clearing, and pulled the trigger. I then dissapeared into some ultra thick, nasty briers / scrub brush. We gave it about 2 hours just to make sure, went down to get it, and he was like a deer in the head lights....lol. Ummm.....I don' think that is a 6 dad! lol. Priceless. And yes, he is thrilled. Getting it mounted.
  11. Nets are for fishing. I could care less what a net score of a deer is.
  12. What part of the state did you shoot him in?
  13. A lot of them don't. I have seen bear on my trail cameras year round. I don't think NY is a good hibernation state outside of the adirnondack mountains. Just my opinion.
  14. Looks like nobody wants to chime in. lol. I will say this, We hunt a 400 acre private parcle in the Southier Tier of WNY. It is bordered by a Road to the North and 3 different neighbors to the East, South and West. They all own a good chunk of land also. Every year we post the living snot out of our property. I'm talkiing posted signs every 50-60 feet around the entire 400 acres AND we take Orange Surveyor tape and mark the trees in between. Despite this, ALL 3 FRICKEN NEIGHBORS AND their cronies, put their stands right on the fence lines or even over onto our property. The ones on the fence line that are on their property, most face our property. For the entire track of land, its probably well over 1,000 acres, and people need to hunt the fence line? i never understood this. Come hunting season it is maddening seeing all the deer that get shot that they drag off the property (and BIG ones included). I understand that the deer don't belong to people. So, they aren't mine to control. However, there is some professional and ethical hunter standards here that says give other hunters some space! Don't put stands up 100 yards from me (which has happened on many occastions). Don't shoot fence line deer, etc. My 2 cents. not sure if it is what you were venting about or not.
  15. Well done sir. I've been hunting my entire life and have shot dozens of deer. I feel sorrow to this day. Its human nature. I would be surprised if most people didn't. However, like you said, as long as you take that life ethically and use it for substanence, there is a ton of joy that also comes with the harvest. It makes you appreciate the circle of life!
  16. the 2 P's of hunting: Perserverence and Patience! Well done sir.
  17. Those $0.99 hand warmers (2 per pack) work great for keeping you warm. I simply crack one when i'm in my stand and put in the left breast pocket (over my heart) in my most inside layer. It is remarkable how much heat that will generate through your whole body that way. $3.00 for 6 of them is a weeks worth of hunting and a lot cheaper than spending $100's on fancy equipment and extra layers.
  18. I don't look at hunting as old school or new school, but as whatever will make my encouters the most enjoyable. That simply means seeing animals when I am in the woods. If that requires cameras and scent control. so be it. There is no sense putting up a blind and not having a deer walk by. Or, having them smell you a mile away and alter their pattern. there isn't much enjoyment in freezing your $@# off all day and seeing a squirrel. To each their own. I respect ALL hunters simply because we are a minority in a liberal world. I just prefer to hunt "new school" and increase my odds. Happy hunting.
  19. 3 Feet? lol. My sister-in-law has over 7'!! I would assume the deer are burried underneath the snow at this point and may be found when it melts.
  20. Actually he was a younger deer. He was only about 175 on the hoof. Teeth were still in good shape. The rack lacked the mass at the pedicles of a really mature deer. i would peg him only 3.5 IMHO.
