  1. Better to be a Jack of All Trades than a One Trick Pony.
  2. Here's a good article on the subject the OP asked. One major point that needs to be considered is, you will become far more proficient in the field when hunting if you master one rifle, than if you hunt occasionally with more than one. http://gundata.org/blog/post/30-06-vs-270/
  3. The difference between the two is really insignificant regarding energy and bullet drop. No whitetail will ever be able to tell the difference after being shot no matter the range. With modern powders in hand loads it's also possible to get a velocity of 3075 fps in a .30-06 using 150 gr bullets. I'm not sure hand loads in a .270 can push a 130 gr bullet beyond the 3100 fps mark. If that's the case, he needs another 30-06 in the toolbox.
  4. Libertarians agree with Progressives on a number of issues.
  5. Maybe a good idea, but the ones on the flights are supposed to be under cover. It would blow their cover to enter the cockpit.
  6. Think of a rifle as a tool to do a job with. Do you need two tape measures or hack saws in your tool box, or would you be better off with one tool you don't currently have to do a different job?
  7. You have the let the pilot leave to go to the bathroom. It appears universal background checks need to be performed on flight crew members. Currently they are killing many more people than legal gun owners.
  8. I look forward to moving to the first state that actually leaves this union and intends to set up a government that actually follows the Constitution.
  9. Chill Phade. I'm not addressing you in my replies at all. Just answering your questions.
  10. An 06 using a 150 grain BTSP bullet will do very much the same thing ballistically as the 270, so IMO the purchase would be redundant. What's the big desire for a 270?
  11. He explained the failings of it's followers very eloquently in his book. Recently, a modern day British politician was arrested for directly quoting Churchill here. When the wisdom of the past is sacrificed daily on the altar of political correctness, is it any wonder most of the misery around the world today is self inflicted? http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/winston-churchills-brutal-takedown-of-islam-means-more-today-than-ever
  12. I expected to find something like this caused the recent plane crash. Sounds like terrorism. I waiting for the information about his motives at this point. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32063587
  13. The original comment was meant to be humorous. I forgot Obama supporters will defend their idol to the death. For the record, Bush probably suffered from neurological damage too, but at least his handlers weren't trying to destroy America through his administration.
  14. Phade, I never said Bush was perfect, but he's been gone for six years now. Isn't it time for Bush haters to "Move On"?
  15. I'm not saying it is. I'm saying this country is in a death spiral and many people are OK with the causes of it.
  16. Massive assaults on the rights, freedoms, liberties and values of US citizens I've personally witnessed over six decades of living in this land, has made me extremely sensitive and alert to proposals that promise more of it. It's far from what most intelligent and informed citizens would consider a neurological deficit. Perhaps it is a problem in the way that it has instilled a very low tolerance for stupidity though.
  17. Well, if you're OK with the majority of young minds being stoned 24/7 and not having any concerns or interactions with the real world to any productive extent, fine. I believe the government made pot illegal in order to budget money off of it and all the other controlled substances, in the so called war on drugs, where billions were allocated to fight it. It also armed a couple of new government agencies with a vast arsenal of military weaponry, and created laws that allow confiscation, or forfeiture, of private property without due process. After decades of ineffectiveness, millions of lives lost in the illegal drug trade, and billions of dollars shipped out of the country, it seems the government has decided to try a different tactic. Legalize it, tax it to high heaven, profit from it financially and keep the masses stoned and happy so they won't notice the water they are sitting in will be getting hotter with each passing day. Classic example of diversion by the authorities. I do not believe drinking in moderation has the same mind numbing effect on people as pot does. It's effects are not only unknown, but apparently permanent. When you look at some of the decisions that have been made, and continue to be made, by our current POTUS, one has to wonder if his mind hasn't been affected by something he numbed it with in his youth. I also doubt pot was the only drug he indulged in. As far as Obama goes, believe whatever you like, but nothing he claims to be, or has done, has ever been legally vetted beyond any doubt. The amount of obfuscation with regards to his past is unprecedented in the history of the US Presidency. If ever there was a Manchurian candidate, it is Obama.
  18. This demented ideology is pervasive throughout many American Universities today. The Progressives have completely infested the institutions of higher learning and are forcing that ideology on students, who then take it out into the world. They also expect there to be penalties applied to opponents of that ideology, just as there were penalties against them at the universities.
  19. The main advantage to low power optics is a wider field of view in close. That helps a lot when shots are at running game. It also helps you observe surroundings when it's possible there is more than one animal in close. The more you can see in that scope, the better. As far as a scope for a .338 brush rifle, I'd lean towards a 2-7x33mm over a 1-4x24mm. I find the larger objective lens gives me better low light shooting ability. It also helps to have 7X power when shooting over 300 yards and they tend to be less expensive than a comparable 1-4 variable. Yes, it offers a little less field of view in close, but it's only noticeable if game is within 15 yards or so. If you are figuring more than 50% of your shots will be that close, or running, a 1-4 variable may be a better choice.
  20. It's enforced vigorously against the gun owner when one of his guns is involved in an accident, is misused by someone, or is stolen. These laws are designed to put even more fear of gun ownership into everyone so they will abandon all desire to own a gun. It's back door gun control. Death by a thousand cuts.
