After looking at the photos, I'd say $250 tops. The stock would need replacing in my opinion. The way the pistol grip was done would not be acceptable to me. It's cut so deep, it actually weakens the stock at that point. It's just not a good stock in my opinion, having a lot of drop, a high comb and a cheap recoil pad. Rather than try to work with it, I'd have to scrap it. The scope adds no value to the rifle at all as far as I'm concerned. The seller seems to think the rifle is worth what he put into it, but it's not. Not sure if the barrel on it is custom or original. If it is a good custom barrel from a good maker, I might consider going as high as $300 if the bore was perfect. BTW, how does the trigger feel? If it doesn't have a trigger with a good crisp pull, it's accuracy will suffer. A good trigger is worth a lot on a rifle, but they are also expensive if you need to buy a good one. -

I wouldn't consider paying more than $200 for a semi sporterized 1917 Enfield. You have to take into consideration the cost of everything you want to do to it after you buy it and what it's final value will be when you are done. Custom military rifles are never worth what they cost to build when finished, even if the work is all done by the owner who's an expert gunsmith, at the lowest possible cost. I believe the main objective, when buying an old military rifle to rebuild, not a collector, is to pay as little as possible for it and calculate the cost of the sporterizing you want to do, prior to buying it. If you want to have a unique, one of a kind custom rifle for yourself, and the cost to build it is OK with you, fine. But you should never think you can ever sell it and get what it cost you to make it. They never do. -

The Progressive mindset is one that believes whatever is currently good in American society, is really bad. But whatever is bad, must be shown to be good. Seems I read that predicted in a book somewhere as prophecy. That is what is happening now. Guess the kids won't have to worry about paying off the mortgages after all. -

Ask for specific content you find to be a lie and this is what I get. No surprise. I have to tell you the SPLC is about as respected as Al Sharpton these days, so anything they do is not very credible. I think they also classify the NRA as a hate group, so there you have it. BTW, I didn't look for that article. I found it on another site posted by someone else. I just found it interesting and decided to put it here for comments. I guess I expected too much from some here who can't seem to defend their views, preferring to stoop to personal attacks on the person who posts. Virgil, I don't know anything about you, but your vehement reaction to the post leads me to believe you may be of the minority persuasion. If that's true, maybe you become offended and defensive a little too quickly when you take things personally. And if you are not a minority, you're certainly suffering from a massive amount of guilt. -

I do not care what any person's race or nationality is. I care about equality. That is why I challenge things like affirmative action and quotas. I cannot see how they aren't viewed as discrimination. Every debate I have had with intelligent people who side with AA and quotas, has always left me wondering how they can defend them by saying they aren't. I've even been accused of racism for debating the subject from the equality side of the issue. I can only conclude, anyone who doesn't want to discuss discrimination truthfully and objectively, has no interest in equality at all. -

Papist, I'm not expecting it, but they can't say I wasn't trying for one. Carbon, that issue has already been determined to be racial profiling, which we have all learned now is wrong. We learned it by being threatened with legal punishment. In America, we have a legal system, not a justice system. That's because there is no justice, but it is all legal. -

Truthfully, I have never heard of the source before and have no idea who NPI is. I thank you for letting me know, but to me it is completely irrelevant. I don't feel who said something has any bearing on the validity or invalidity of the ideas they present. They are either true, or they are not. I read the article and found it to be informative and IMO, truthful. If you would care to discuss the content in the article, we may actually be able to get somewhere here. I'm searching for truth. If the article is not truthful, by all means point out it's lies. To make things simple for all, just pick out one thing in the article you find to be a lie and we can discuss it. As far as I'm concerned, the article is stating truth in the majority of it's conclusions. -
They certainly do. When they say these things, they are are just giving cues to their mindless followers. Once the leaders of dedicated progressives say something, it is immediately adopted by their followers and promoted as truth from then on, regardless of it's absurdity. It keeps the flock in line while providing talking points for them to memorize.

When Moore explained that marriage is a matter of law and rights that come from God, Cuomo vehemently disagreed. "Our rights do not come from God, your honor, and you know that. They come from man," Cuomo insisted. Later he added, "That's your faith, that's my faith, but that's not our country. Our laws come from collective agreement and compromise." What utter hogwash. As Moore aptly noted, the Declaration of Independence is the law of the land, and it begins, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..." But Cuomo isn't just mistaken. He and his deceased father, Mario, and his brother Andrew, former and current governors of New York, hold a typical leftist view that government and not God creates rights. Therefore, those rights are subject to the whims of politicians because, as Chris Cuomo insisted, "Times change. Definitions change." Such views are dangerous and completely antithetical to the foundation of our country.

I have to laugh at the two people posting claims of racism about the original post. It's obvious they have not read the article at all. Rather they choose to prevent others from reading it by attempting to label it as racist. How do you guys ever form your opinions on anything if you don't even look at the issues from both sides? Why is it racist for any group in America to look out for it's own interests? Or more accurately, the white people in the country are racist if they tell the truth about racism in the country. Reading that article would leave even the most radical progressive hard pressed to refute much of what the author says. That being the case, what the author says in much of that article is truth! But for some, the truth is hate speech and must be silenced. That, my friends is the real racism in America today. When either of you two care to address specifics about the article, maybe we can have an intelligent civil debate. Until then, take your hatred and self loathing home with you where you can flog yourself to your heart's content. -

But then you go off on a biased assumption of your own, with no basis in fact, about what to you seems obvious. What's obvious to me is you have a real prejudice against anyone and anything you disagree with. BTW, I couldn't care less, about what you couldn't care less about. So that makes us mutually independent. And that's good. -

I really don't believe our government ever intended to take all of our freedoms. I believe it put the country in an irreversible debt spiral by constantly voting benevolent use of our tax dollars to buy votes from the constituents of the two political parties that want only to retain power. For about two decades, our government has extrapolated possible future outcomes of their decisions and the one that keeps coming up in all of their economic models is an economic collapse. Right now, all of the issues the mass media directs our attention to is diversion. This lap dog of the government is charged with grabbing the attention of the masses and distracting them with government created issues like climate change, illegal immigration, measles, gay marriage and the like, to redirect their attention from the real threat looming on the horizon. So, it begins to plan for an economic collapse. When the dollar becomes worthless, banks will be ordered to close. Then there will be chaos. That will require the government to declare Martial Law. When that happens, all of our Constitutional rights will be suspended and all people will be subject to any and all orders from the government and military personnel. That's when the gate will slam shut on our freedoms. In preparation for the possible economic collapse, all 2nd Amendment rights have to be minimized, or eliminated, as much as possible right now, without starting a revolt. It's being done in the name of crime reduction, when all evidence points to it having no impact on reducing crime at all. The government doesn't fear armed insurrection because it will win. It just doesn't want a lot of their agents to be killed under Martial Law by people who refuse to comply. It is just now, we are starting to hear some of the useful idiots of the government starting to admit they want large capacity magazines banned because anyone who owns them is "arming against the government". Only an untrustworthy government would ever think that is the case. In the past, our government sought the help of citizens when it was battling and enemy. It has to disarm the citizens when it knows in this battle, it will be the enemy. If you believe the government is not capable of the above scenario, you have to ask yourself why we see constant tax increases and all sorts of infringements on rights and liberties going on. The answer is, because the government has compromised it's power and authority and fears losing control, as happens in many third world countries and banana republics all the time. Today we see it happening in Greece and maybe spreading to a number of EU nations soon. The biggest threat to any government is loss of power and control. When power and control is almost lost, the government will do whatever is needed to retain it, because the most important thing any government requires, and will never surrender, is power and control.
