  1. I've decided Curm is correct. There is no way any amount of information or education will change the mind of anyone who is firmly convinced something is fact. Therefore I'm not going to bother expending energy with replies to posts that are contrary. The problem with the country today is there are too many things people "know" that just aren't true. We need to change the country's slogan to "God Help America".
  2. I remember all of them. I remember when dirt was invented too.
  3. The Constitution was written to restrain the powers of the Federal government. It has no power in any area not specifically granted to it by the Constitution, keeping all of the general powers in the hands of the states and the people. The US Constitution is a restraining order on centralized power in the Federal government. http://constitutionality.info/TheConstitution.html
  4. I don't think that's true. After all his last name ended in a vowel. But he was an ally of the Nazi's
  5. Impassioned Socialist "In 1902, Benito Mussolini moved to Switzerland to promote socialism, and quickly gained a reputation for his magnetism and remarkable rhetorical talents. While engaging in political demonstrations, he caught the attention of Swiss authorities and was eventually expelled from the country. In 1904, Mussolini returned to Italy and continued promoting a socialist agenda. He was briefly imprisoned and, upon release, became editor of the organization's newspaper, Avanti (meaning "Forward"), which gave him a larger megaphone and expanded his influence." He may have been considered right wing later on, but as my Dad always used to say, a leopard doesn't change his spots.
  6. I think you may need to move this thread now too. LOL!
  7. But Marx, Stalin, Lenin, Mussolini, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Castro and Pol Pot were leftists and had no issues killing millions. I'm sure I left out a couple more.
  8. This is mating season for yotes, so they are out and about, but most chances will come finding them in open fields early in the AM, especially if the wind has blown most of the snow off the field and it's not deep. After 9 AM or so, you can go back inside and warm up.
  9. Dick's, Gander Mtn and others like them are not following any laws by asking that, they have store policies that mandate asking that info. They are playing the CYA game. Buy your ammo somewhere else if you can.
  10. The Vermont seller surely isn't going to be concerned with where you live. They won't even ask.
  11. Found this article on the subject: http://www.deerfriendly.com/feeding-deer
  12. I swear I read an article somewhere a few years back that said if you feed corn to deer at this time of the year it can kill them. Something about the way their digestive tracts change with the seasons. If it's true, a lot of do gooders are really doing the total opposite of what they think they are doing. Anyone else know about this?
  13. Always knew it happened, but never knew it was so wide spread and used against average people. Always figured cops used it to arrest serious felons they couldn't seem to bring in any other way. I can see this increasing in the war on the 2nd Amendment.
  14. This is really scary. “I have a method for getting people off the street that should not be there. Mouthy drivers, street lawyers, assholes and just anyone else trying to make my job difficult. Under my floor mat, I keep a small plastic dime baggie with Cocaine in residue. Since it’s just residue, if it is ever found during a search of my car like during an inspection, it’s easy enough to explain. It must have stuck to my foot while walking through San Castle. Anyways, no one’s going to question an empty baggie. The residue is the key because you can fully charge some asshole with possession of cocaine, heroin, or whatever just with the residue. How to get it done? “I asked Mr. DOE for his identification. And he pulled out his wallet, I observed a small plastic baggie fall out of his pocket…” You get the idea. easy, right? Best part is, those baggies can be found lots of places so you can always be ready. Don’t forget to wipe the baggie on the person’s skin after you arrest them because you want their DNA on the bag if they say you planted it or fight it in court.” Read more at http://thefreethoughtproject.com/officer-reveals-planting-evidence-lying-part-game/#VdodLQJFfY2lQcR1.99 http://thefreethoughtproject.com/officer-reveals-planting-evidence-lying-part-game
  15. Ants, people that old can very easily be forced to make bad decisions fearing for their lives.
  16. When I started hunting in 1970, many men used doubles too, but in my then state of NJ, only buck shot was allowed. The double 10 gauge was king, since no autos or pumps were then made in 10 gauge. When the state finally allowed slugs, the double gun men found them to be useless with slugs and continued to use 00 Buck. Once rifled shotgun barrels became available, that changed everything. But to this day, you will still find hunters in NJ that prefer to use 00 Buck.
  17. Doc, that is exactly what these gun laws were intended to do in the first place. I sincerely believe politicians that support ANY gun laws that only affect the law abiding, do so because they want us all disarmed. But that pesky 2nd Amendment makes that hard for them to do, unless we commit a felony. So, they pass laws that make you a felon for doing something like what this poor old man did. It is all by design as far as I'm concerned. No gun owner should ever vote for anyone that is OK with stupid gun laws. I find it easier to simply never vote for any Democrats, since they are the party of stupid gun laws, unless the particular Dem politician I'm voting for is a proven supporter of the 2nd Amendment. The rest of them, whatever party they belong to, are usually more honest about their gun law opinions.
  18. Yes it is. I like to show him all the rifles I took with me when I left the state. None of which were even affected by the SAFE Act other then some magazines that nobody is sure are still legal or not. I already sent him info on my annual state income and sales taxes paid to my new state too. I think Remington and Kahr Arms did the same thing. This is for Andy
  19. I love my Kimber Montana in 7mm-08 and use it for 90% of my big game hunting. I could survive with just that one rifle if I had to. I'd just need a shotgun for small game and birds. Someday when senility sets in, maybe I'll trim the collection down to just those two. I guess I'd still need a slug gun though. And a muzzle loader....... And a .22..... And here we go again!!! LOL!
  20. I had a 1970 Winchester Mod 70 in .338 Win Mag. I did not like it, as it was heavy and had a lot of felt recoil. I sold it and got the Kimber 8400 Montana in .325 WSM to replace it. Much lighter with less felt recoil, plus stainless steel with a kevlar composite stock. Unless you are going out west for Elk or Grizz, you don't need either of them.
  21. These are the rifles I use for hunting. .22 Bolt Actions (2 of them) .22 Mag Bolt .223 (1 Bolt & 1 Semi) 7mm-08 Bolt .30 Carbine Semi .30-30 Levers (2 of them) .308 (1 Bolt & 2 Semi) .30-06 Bolt 7.62x39 Semi (2 of them) 7.7 Jap Custom Bolt .325 WSM Bolt .357 Mag Lever .35 Rem Lever .375 H&H Bolt .45 Muzzle Loader 20 Ga Semi Slug gun 12 Ga Savage Fully Rifled Bolt All the rest are collector pieces. I think I have everything I need, but not everything I want. BTW that's only 8 calibers and 2 gauges, but it is 17 chamberings for 17 different cartridges counting the M/L.
