  1. If you don't have a problem with taking all guns when a pistol license is revoked, you don't really understand the problem. Think about it. A pistol license can now be revoked without any cause. Is this a law that allows the govt to confiscate all firearms easier, or is it designed to eliminate people getting pistol licenses? it certainly isn't preventing any crime. Either way, if that's what they used to justify the confiscation, it's still an unjustified confiscation in my mind.
  2. Exaggerate a little Belo? My posts have been few and far between these days. But I do agree that most members of this site don't care about gun rights in NY. I just can't resist trying to get them to care. Posting about gun rights on firearms sites isn't necessary, as that would be preaching to the choir.
  3. Maybe I can't win the war, but at least I'm still in the fight. Go ahead and have a vote. I wouldn't give it a second thought if I was banned from the forums. If most members are that determined to silence an opinion, I wouldn't want to be a part of it anyway.
  4. Maybe a personal attack on firefighters because I was one for many years as a volunteer.
  5. I do drive along the highways of upstate still, and I see the signs, but I don't feel the passion for the fight anymore. My upstate residence has now become my weekend place again and I worry about even bringing a firearm into NY at this point. And I mean a bolt action deer rifle. I'm not sure how the SAFE Act is understood by LEO's in NY these days, as many of them have personally told me they don't even really know what's legal anymore.
  6. Very few?? I'm not surprised you would say that. That statement was made in the article to stop naysayers from asking if he was some type of criminal or undesirable. This man was disabled on 9/11/01 at the WTC. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Unless proven otherwise, you should too.
  7. It seems the outrage over the SAFE Act in the State of NY has passed. Too often I hear NY gun owners speaking in terms of acceptance of the law, rather than being outraged by it. There doesn't seem to be a grass roots resistance anymore, or even a desire to fight it now. Am I missing something or is this really the case?
  8. Exactly! That is one of the most dangerous parts of the SAFE Act. Revoking the pistol permit can be done for NO reason, and all of your 2nd Amendment rights are taken with it. That's one of the reasons NY residents, and I mean ALL NY residents, should be so adamant about having the SAFE Act repealed. Rights should not be so easily removed from anyone! And if they do take all of your firearms for whatever reason, what legal recourse do you have to get them returned? if there is No legal method of recourse, that is clearly a violation of many constitutional rights.
  9. But those things would've all been resolved without having to file a lawsuit against the County. There is more to this story, but it's more about illegal confiscation of firearms.
  10. This is why NY gun laws are as bad as they are. Many NY gun owners just don't think they are bad, don't care about them, or are just oblivious to the encroachment. Carry on. Besides, nobody makes you read any of them. Why would you want to prevent equality of forum use because you disagree with the opinions of another member? That equality thing seems to be a problem with some residents of NY as well.
  11. First off, I've known perps to continue advancing on police officers after being shot, and many have continued to invade homes after being shot at. I do not know what "studies" you are referring to, but I doubt they are unbiased or peer reviewed. Blaming a home owner for not properly defending himself with his firearm is excusing the perps for the invasion. Next, owning a firearm for defense is a RIGHT. Owning and driving a car isn't. Mandatory anything is a deterrent. Making it harder for people to have a defensive firearm in the home simply means fewer people will have them and home invaders will be emboldened. That handgun can be used by anyone in the home when necessary. What if the wife was home and didn't have the training? Would she be prohibited from using the pistol to defend herself? "Gun Advocates" encourage training, but don't want it mandated. The stopping power is determined by shot placement. Maybe his shots were off. that's the point of the PSA. Who needs a large cap mag? Someone who misses a lot. I don't think I would kick someone in the face when they are holding a handgun.
  12. I hope the man wins his lawsuit and it costs Nassau County millions. Money has a way of curbing enthusiasm.
  13. Cuomo says you only need 7 rounds. Can I sue him if I needed more?
  14. Neighbors can call the cops when they hear you yelling. I'm amazed by NY gun owners who always think taking away someone's guns was justified, instead of part of a political agenda. I guess that's why NY has the unconstitutional gun laws it has. Forgot to point out - if there is more to it, why has it been a year with absolutely no charges filed?
  15. Realize this happened 1 year ago and we only hear of it now because of the Federal Lawsuit! Think how many other incidences have not made it to the news yet. http://www.guns.com/2015/01/29/disabled-911-firefighter-sues-over-confiscation-of-firearms-collection/
  16. Replace it with one of the older Marlin guns that do not have the crossbolt safety. My 336 in .35 Rem doesn't have it.
  17. You never know why things happen and what will come of it. But you have to stay positive and believe it is all for the best. ATTITUDE The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company… a church … a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react. And so it is with you … we are in charge of our attitudes. Charles Swindoll Who knows? Maybe fate is getting you out of NYC just before terrorists set off a nuke there!
  18. Red Squirrels. They get into peoples homes and tear out the insulation. No closed season and no limit on them.
  19. Who shoots a doe with a fawn? Any hunter that has never seen the movie "Bambi". Most fawns are fully able to survive on their own by hunting season. Fawns that lose mother's will gravitate into a herd of deer before long. Those deer teach it everything it needs to know as well as mom would have. Young deer, of either gender, have a harder time getting through a bad winter than a healthy mature deer. When you find dead fawns, you sometimes see their mother's with them.
  20. The LeverEvolution rounds have been known to do that on occasion. But that is a failure of the round, not the rifle. I've never heard of an issue with a .30-30 using a good soft point bullet in 150 or 170 grain weight. Even the inexpensive Core Lokt from Remington seems to perform very well on deer.
  21. Canada geese are pushing the envelope in some people's minds as well.
