Speak for yourself NFA. Maybe we need to organize an intervention. ;D

How about rats for starters?

You can use neutral words like "pressure" or "hunting" or even "harvesting" if you are neutral. "Persecution" is a negative term with an obvious bias. Doesn't matter if you attach it to wolves or hunters. Next, Wikipedia is far from what anyone would consider a scientific journal. And the subject discussed is just a hypothesis. If you want to look into some real science, with actual data derived over years of collection, study the effects of predator over population, including your mesopredators, caused by the decline in trapping due to anti trapping influence and government regulation based on emotion rather than science. That legislation has created many of the vermin and predator problems we see today. Too often, when special interest groups create problems, they also want to be the ones who get to "solve" the problems they made. They should just admit they were wrong and leave the problem to experts.

Labeling coyote hunting "persecution" is an exercise in Orwellian double speak with questionable motives. Hunting may indeed cause more coyote breeding, but if the original sustainable population is already dominating the landscape, the answer is certainly not less coyote hunting. The over regulation of trapping methods has also added to the problem of coyote overpopulation in many areas. The only reason coyote hunting doesn't bring the population under control is not enough people hunting coyotes. The annual take is way below what is needed. They are not a source of food for those that hunt them, and their pelt values are down, so there is little incentive to hunt them at all. That's why contests with monetary rewards must be run. They are an invasive species, vermin and predators that add nothing of value to the land they occupy.

Anyone else have property in the wind farm project zone?
Mr VJP replied to First-light's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm curious to know if the enviro groups and conservationists have been involved in the opposition to these wind mills. From what I've heard, they have a history of killing many large birds, raptors and even bald eagles. If we are concerned about lead ammo and fracking in NY, shouldn't there be a big objection to wind mills as well? -
The so called "blizzard" has turned out to be a bust. Hardly any real accumulation anywhere they said we would get clobbered. Seems to me these news people and weather people like to stir up panic at minor events these days.

All you need are snowshoes.

LOL! I love these winter storm forecasts. They scare the hell out of people, who run to the super market and clear out the store's shelves, as if they will be snowed in for a month. Snowstorms are like a woman's perception of sex. She never knows how long it will last or how many inches she'll get. But it's rarely what is promised.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver Arrested.
Mr VJP replied to grampy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I'm afraid even if they lock Andy up tomorrow, it will have no immediate effect on the SAFE Act. But maybe lawmakers who don't get arrested will then grow a spine and repeal it. -
This time of year deer come together and move together looking for food. You can see 60 deer in one field while there won't be another deer anywhere else in the area for a mile or more. That makes it seem like there are lots of deer in the area when in reality the population is down.

Good video. From Germany I guess. In America the round closest to the 9.3x62 would be the .375 H&H. Pretty heavy for a day with a lot of shooting. I like the idea of using bubbles to check the wind! Good Idea!

Nothing wrong with a good debate if people can be civil. Would you be willing to visit that compound and let us all know what happens when you go there? After all, the sign says "Welcome to Islamberg".

This is the problem with many people in America. So much of what they know just isn't true. No where in the 1st Amendment do those words, or that sentiment appear. Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. These same people also ignore this part: or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; This amendment was never intended to mean "freedom FROM religion". The founders had seen the Church of England instituted by the King with state approved persecution of all other religions. That is what they wanted to prevent when they wrote the 1st Amendment. What modern progressives are trying to do is set up the government as the religion in America with sanctioned persecution of all others. The founders would vehemently object to the things the government is doing today, surely questioning why they are not following their sworn oaths to support and defend the US Constitution. Just to be clear here, no religion should dictate laws in America. But religious people have the right to lobby lawmakers, just like anyone else, in order to persuade them to pass laws they want. That's also a right protected by the 1st Amendment and the entire US Constitution.

I just hope he decides to talk to save his own skin and a takes whole lot of other crooks down with him. I hope he rats on Cuomo so bad, they arrest that crook as well. -
Jennifer, you mean the one you posted in the "perception" thread? It's a couple of threads down in this forum.

No, we can't do anything about terrorists because political correctness refuses to understand and acknowledge the threat.

An interesting read about tolerance. Another double standard that presents a danger. http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/first-amendment-2/intolerant-muslim-vanderbilt-students-prove-professor-right-about-islamic-culture-by-doing-this

As an aside, the only loads I shoot from my 7mm-08 are Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertips in 140 grain and they have the Lubalox ( Black Oxide coating ). Hence, I never get copper fouling in the bore. The Bore Snake seems to clean the Lubalox out of the bore pretty well too.
-
And I think forum rules say no hateful personal attacks against other members. Don't think it says anything about opinions on any given subject.
-
Grampy, I use one in my 7mm-08. I run it through the bore without solvent after every few shots just to keep it cleaner when I shoot. You need to be careful not to drag in on the edges of the muzzle when you pull it through though. Pull it straight out, as the cord can build up crud that will act like an abrasive on the crown of the muzzle. When I'm done shooting, I'll spray some WD-40 in the bore and run the snake through it two or three times. That will get it clean enough to keep it until the next time I shoot the rifle. I wipe the snake off with a clean rag after each shooting session too. That seems to keep it clean enough until it gets washed later on. At the end of the season the rifle will get the cleaning with the rod and brush that it should get so it can be stored until next season. BTW, the Bore Snake can be washed by placing it in a sock and tying the sock up, then toss it in the washing machine with soiled clothes or whatever. I find this method works just fine, but I don't put too many rounds through the rifle each season, as I only need to check for zero and it never seems to need adjustment. Also my barrel is stainless steel, so that may be a factor as well. I would certainly advise getting a Bore Snake for your rifle, as I find it to be very useful to have.

FYI, for one thing Papist was not the OP. Secondly, the thread is about a place outside of Hancock, NY. Discussing what may be happening there is not an attack on any religion. Individual posts may point out political & religious motives of the location, or the lack of government intervention, for debate. If you choose not to intelligently engage in the debate, nobody will force you to. However, if you choose to make the majority of your posts an attack on another forum member because you have a particular dislike for their opinions, that shows what your character really is. To go beyond that and ask moderators to silence another forum member because you don't like their opinion, like what Leftists do in the political arena in the country, simply proves you have nothing factual to add to the debate. It appears you would like a Police State, not civil debate. If the moderators should intervene in any way, and I'm not asking them to do so, it should be to warn forum members who attack other forum members personally without any reference to the subject matter in the thread at all. It's obvious they feel they've lost the debate and cannot recoup when they devolve to that level.
