3s for about 6 hrs this morning. Had a group of 5 does hanging around for an hour with no bucks in sight.

I asked basically the same question a while ago. The numbers in that area are crazy http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27465-What%27s-going-on-in-Warwick%3F

I agree. And the map doesn't show any differences regarding deer sex and implements that can be used. I couldn't find any fine print in the regs either. Just thought I'd ask here before calling the regional office in case I was missing something obvious.

I have an opportunity to hunt private property in 5C when the regular season opens and have never hunted the northern zone before. Someone was telling me that in 5C, only bucks can be taken with a firearm. Does must be taken with a bow or muzzleloader only. I've never heard of anything like this and couldn't find any information about this in the regs. Can of you guys confirm if this is true or not?? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I'm sure it was a lot easier and more welcome 24 years ago, but I might just have to give it a shot. -
Anyone Going After Woodchucks Soon?

So I've always read the replies saying to just ask farmers and they will be more than happy to let you shoot groundhogs on their property. But how true is this in NY (we all know NY is 'different' than most of the country)? I'm in lower NY, but would gladly drive upstate or to WNY to shoot some ghogs. Since a lot of you guys live out that way, do you think some farmers would be receptive to asking for permission in a respectful/polite way? Any advice on this from locals in farm country? Thanks in advance. -
The info is from this year's harvest report. From a quick look over all the cities listed in the entire state, Warwick is something like 3rd for total deer take. The other areas somewhat close to it aren't anywhere near the numbers there. So what's the deal? Good land? Giving out a ton of tags there? Huge hunter population? I know there isn't much in the way of public land. I've never been over to that area but am pretty interested.

If I buy a lifetime license now as a NY resident and then move out of NY and establish residency in another state, is the lifetime NY license still valid with no extra non res fees?

Sounds like a pretty sweet setup. Congrats on finally scoring some land! -

Tagging for info where this guy was found so I can stay the heck away from there! Lol

Is ordering ammo online a problem yet? Does ammo need to be shipped to a FFL? Has that not gone into effect yet or is that even going into effect?

Please keep the updates coming. I'm hoping to start some small game/predator hunting soon now that deer season is over.

Anyone use a smart phone for the GPS feature???
GreggNY replied to Grizz1219's topic in General Hunting
I use cabela's recon hunt and everytrail on my iphone5. Both are good for recording tracks and waypoints -
I just started hearing about this land and am definitely going to check it out next season. How is Sterling after deer season for small game/coyotes? Much hunting pressure?

Was out this AM in Westchester and only saw one doe. The light rain wasn't a problem but the fog made visibility real bad. This is the first time i've been out that my rangefinder wouldn't give me any readings because of the fog

I know that Putnam County does not allow rifles for deer. I have a few questions in regards to using rifles for other species- Would rimfire rifles be legal for small game in Putnam? Would centerfire rifles be legal for coyote hunting in Putnam (day or night) or would that be limited to what is legal for deer as well? Would the same regulations apply once deer season is closed? I emailed the DEC about this as well but thought I'd see if anyone here could clear this up. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks
