If the majority of the protesters did that, and that was the goal of the protest, you might have a point. If the entire crowd "stormed" the Capital building, they would have taken it apart. That didn't happen. There will always be a few people in every protest that take things too far, but the majority were there to make a point, and that's all they were there for. The majority of those arrested did nothing violent. They set no fires. They assaulted nobody. All they did was occupy the Capital building. If they wore masks like the leftist ANTIFA crowd always does, the govt wouldn't even know who to arrest. Arrests are rarely made when ANTIFA or BLM riots, burning looting and killing people, or trying to destroy federal property. And if they are arrested, leftist politicians post their bail and then rally to drop the charges. I stand by my assessment. This is a case of leftists in power, persecuting Trump supporters for exercising their right to assemble and protest against a stolen election. The left is trying to silence that. This is a perfect example of leftist hypocrisy, manipulation and propaganda to vilify the opposition.

If you sight it in to be 2" high at 75 yards, you will drop only 4" below line of sight at 250 yards. That means you have a "point blank range" of 250 yards. A deer has a 8" circle sized area of it's vital organs. If you aim at the center of a deer's vitals and it is within 250 yards, you will be within the 8" vital area. That's called point blank range, where no hold over is needed. Sight in 2" high on your 75 yard target and you will be within an 8" deer vital area out to 250 yards. Although rounds can take down game upwards to 300 yards out, the rounds are usually accurate up to 250 yards before a noticeable drop-off in trajectory occurs. Go with the Hornady Superformance load for maximum velocity. Winchester Super-X 150-grain Power Point: Average velocity, 2657 fps Extreme Spread, 48 fps; Standard Deviation 18 fps. Remington Core-Lokt 150-grain PSP: Average velocity, 2622 fps Extreme Spread, 92 fps; Standard Deviation, 30 fps. Hornady Superformance 150-grain SST: Average velocity, 2752 fps Extreme spread, 92 fps; Standard Deviation 28 fps. Each average is based on at least eight shots. The results would indicate that Winchester and Remington are juicing their loads right up to conventional pressure specs, and, yes, the Superformance does deliver additional velocity. In the case of the Winchester, +95 fps, and +130 fps over the Remington. This happens without exceeding SAAMI pressure recommendations for the cartridge. One could argue about the practical difference in field performance resulting from the velocity difference, but the difference is there, and the very efficient SST bullet will insure that the velocity difference is at least as great out at 200 yards where the deer might be standing. A little history on the .300 Savage from Chuck Hawks. The .300 Savage By Chuck Hawks The .300 Savage was introduced in 1921 and it quickly became one of the classic deer rifle cartridges, as well as an all-around big game cartridge. It was designed to out perform the .30-30 Winchester and approximate the .30-06 ballistics of the time (150 grain bullet at 2700 fps) in a cartridge short enough to operate in the Savage Model 99 lever action rifle. Later, in the 1950's, the .300 Savage became the basis for experiments by the US Army that resulted in the development of the (T-65) .308 Winchester cartridge. With the demise of the Savage Model 99 rifle the .300 has become an orphan. However, it is still a good cartridge. The Hornady Superformance load makes it the approximate equal of the .308 Win. (150 grain SST at 2750 fps) The .300 Savage case is quite modern in appearance. It is designed for short actions, has a sharp 30 degree shoulder angle and a short neck to maximize powder capacity. Factory loads are offered in 150 and 180 grain bullet weights. As currently factory loaded by Winchester and Remington, the 150 grain spitzer bullet starts at 2,630 fps with 2,303 ft. lbs. of energy. At 200 yards the velocity is 2,095 fps and the energy is 1,462 ft. lbs. The 180 grain spitzer bullet starts at 2,350 fps with 2,205 ft. lbs. of energy. At 200 yards the velocity is 1,940 fps and the energy is 1,495 ft. lbs.

It was a protest against a stolen election, nothing more. Nobody "stormed" anything and nobody was armed. The only person killed was an unarmed white woman, shot by a black Capital cop. A lot of people have been arrested. how many have been convicted? As far as I know only a few pleaded guilty to get the govt off their case. This is leftist intimidation of conservative free speech, period.

Wow, Superformance SST is going for $50 per box now? (With shipping they come to $55/box) I wonder what the GMX loads are going for.
-
Copper ammo? Which Hornady round? How much was the shipping? A 180 gr copper bullet is a long bullet and may require a faster twist rate than your 06 has in the bore. A 150 gr copper projectile is as long as a 180 gr lead projectile. Longer bullets need a faster twist.

My research in 2020 indicated I could buy budget level hunting ammo for my .30-06 for $17 per box. Privi-Partisan (PPU) 165 gr boat tail soft point was offered at that price online at a few places. Premium .30-06, like Winchester Supreme 165gr BTSP was $25 per box. Many premium loads were more. The least expensive copper .30-06 I could find in 2020 was $35 per box. And that was not premium ammo. So copper ammo tends to sell for about double the cost of standard hunting ammo. With today's high prices, even with prices coming down some, copper ammo is still double the price of standard hunting ammo, bringing budget copper ammo to about $50 per box, if you can find it, and the variety of bullet weights is far less. I cannot find any 150 gr copper bullets loaded in any ammo. I have hand loaded copper ammo for my hunting rifles to be prepared, but all copper bullets are twice the cost of standard soft points in any caliber. I have two boxes of copper ammo for all of my hunting rifles now, but won't hunt with it unless forced to. Anyone who says copper isn't much more expensive than regular ammo, isn't talking about regular standard ammo. They are comparing it to the most expensive premium ammo. This law will definitely increase the cost of shooting.

Lead and Non-lead Hunting Ammunition: Interagency Working Group Convenes to Address a Complex Problem This issue has been gaining a lot of attention nationally and internationally, with some jurisdictions restricting use of lead ammunition for big game and others setting up educational campaigns or incentive programs to increase understanding of the issue and promote a transition from lead to non-lead ammunition. To tackle this issue, DEC recently initiated a working group that brings together a variety of interest groups to conduct a comprehensive examination of the risks posed by lead hunting ammunition to wildlife and people in New York. The working group includes representatives from DEC, the New York State Department of Health, Cornell University’s Wildlife Health Program, and organized hunting and conservation groups. The group seeks first to thoroughly understand the issue and identify and engage key interest groups to understand their concerns. Then, after the comprehensive review and by December 31, 2021, DEC and the working group will develop recommendations to minimize the risks posed by lead in the environment from hunting ammunition and communicate this information to key interest groups and the public.

My First Deer Rifle: Remington 760
Grouse replied to Splitear's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
The 742 is known for having bolt lug issues after firing a few thousand rounds. The lugs require honing and polishing work after they get worn, as do the recesses in the barrel. They get worn and no longer fit into each other well, which causes the gun to jam. Any experienced gunsmith knows this and they can fix the problem if it is only the first time the work is being done. It can be done a second time, and maybe a third, but after that, things are too worn out to repair and need to be replaced. Doing a new bolt isn't bad, but replacing the barrel gets costly. -
China virus lab or wet market?
Grouse replied to phantom's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Today, Communist China spends much of its time and money calculating how to stand athwart the world like a modern-day Colossus. It is prepared to do whatever is necessary to become the world’s leading superpower, including engaging in a global campaign of economic espionage. https://www.heritage.org/homeland-security/commentary/chinas-grand-theft?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=thf-fb&fbclid=IwAR2CKhgDnqwwJLROq7Qv8Qig9XsWQiIKscg3WM_6vJrp-rzzCgyBHWzWMb8 -
