  2. I have never seen a scrape that was about 3" deep. This about 30 yards from the road, so salt would'nt be their.
  3. Not that I know of. That is the first thing I thought of.
  4. Where r u putting the food plot? Good luck with your new home.
  5. I found this scrape across the street from my house. This is about 2 1/2' wide and 3 inches deep. You can see one hoof mark in the top left of the bigger pic. Any suggestions on why a deer would do this? This time of year.
  6. If you remove this in the stand I would remove it when practicing.
  7. I never shoot anything smaller than 5 pointers. At that he must be a larger 5. I have been practicing this for about 6 years now. On my trail cams this year the smallest deer I have seen is a big 6. The bigger the bones, the more meat you will have in the freezer. Good luck to all this season.
  8. I rattle every year. I found that you will generally rattle in larger bucks. This does scare off smaller deer. I rattled in one of the largest bucks I have ever seen in the deer woods. He was a 12 pointer. I never got a shot off at him. So now if I do rattle on the ground I make sure I'm in a blind of some type. It works for me.
  9. I bought a Bushnell yardage pro 800 after I hit a realy nice 8 pointer. My shot was high in his back. When I could not find him I was very pissed off. He lived for 2 more seasons. Since I bought this range finder I have never missed a deer again.
  10. Can anyone tell the legal draw weight in NY?
  11. I have some plots on my land. I'm not sure to fertilize for the fall and winter or do I just broadcast some lime? Then in the spring do the opisite. Landowner
  12. During the Bow season I wear a reversible orange and camo hat, I also wear a orange vest to the stand and back. I do noy wear orange when in my stand. I live in Orange County NY. I own about 50 acres, hunt about 90 total. I have had a lot of trespassers on my land and the other. Can never be to safe!!. Quote!! GET OFF MY LAND... Landowner.
  13. Sure thing Dave. I will be putting another camera in the feild. I have to find out where they are coming in the feild. That would be great to put a movie of us together on this website. Your Buddy Landowner. Quote!! GET OFF MY LAND!!!
  14. Here are some new pics for the day. I plan on filling the freezer this year with Venison! Whats for dinner? Venison, Venison, Venison and more Venison. Can't wait.
  15. This plot contains Rape, Kale and Turnips. I have Clover and Kale on the other end of the plot. This was a lot of work. Thank you.
  16. Hi all! Here are some recent pics of my new food plot. I planted this in July. I hope the deer in the pics stay around. I will up date this post as time goes on. Brian
  17. I love that idea. I'm going to start going to my friends stand and pee on their tree. ;D
  18. You can go to your local coaperative extension from the county you live in. This should cost no more than $12.00. You sample should be from 6 or so spots in you plot area. Dig down about 3 inches, place dirt in a clean bucket. Mix this up then put about 3 cups in a zip lock bag. Do not skimp on the lime and fertilizer. Landowner
  19. I say we all should go into Pa and NJ and make a pee drive towards NY!!!!
  20. My first ATV spreader. I paid $80.00. lasted about 2 months. Here is what I bought now. http://www.wikco.com/800.html I bought this on eBay. Paid $125.00. Would cost new about $949.00. This will hold around 400lbs. Seems to be very good made. This was also made in the good old USA. What ever you do do not cheapie out on your implements. Buy the best you can afford. The last picture you see is one month after planting. landowner Check out my pictures of me foodplots.
  21. Good luck with your plot. make sure you use roundup pro and kill any new growth. #1 make sure you get a soil sample. #2 make sure you add the proper amount of lime and fertilizer. I'm working on one in the back fourty. Last fall I cut down the trees and brush hogged. This past spring I turned it over, disked it, limed it the fertilized it. I will be planting in 2-4 weeks. The photo was taken last fall. landowner
  22. I would clean this area up. Kill all the weeds with round up pro. Spread about 300 lbs of lime, feltilize it with 13-13-13. Plant some clover. Or Turnips for the fall. This would cost you about 60.00 - 100.00 dollars. Then you would have the deer coming in.
  23. I live in Orange county. On my land I have been doing this for more than 6 years. Between this and my food plots I have seen a great inprovment. landowner
  24. I remember once I was going and 5 doe was just staring at me could care less. I smart old big BUCK on the other hand I think would run the other way. What do you think? Landowner
