I used Dennis for a late season shotgun hunt in LI a few years back. Never hunted with them upstate. The LI hunt was a one day, inexpensive, no frills hunt on public land. Killed a nice doe.

Should they ask for their papers as well while they are at?

Downwind Outdoors Killing Turkeys in April??

Also, I'd add that I'm not saying they did or didn't do anything wrong, I follow them on Facebook and enjoy their work but I bet I'm not the only one wondering when this was shot and why it just got released today. -

I'm not. The person that commented actually asked the same question. Just odd they would delete the comment vs. respond to it? -
Thought this was kind of strange. These guys just posted this to Facebook. Season doesn't open until May 1 statewide... There was a comment about poaching a bird, but they deleted it. https://www.facebook.com/DownWindOutdoors

Can I sell a shoulder mount legally in New York?
WestchesterBowman replied to WestchesterBowman's topic in General Hunting
No argument there, I think you're exactly right. I just wanted to make sure I was legal before I put it online for sale. -

Can I sell a shoulder mount legally in New York?
WestchesterBowman posted a topic in General Hunting
I have a shoulder mount (wild pig) that I'd like to sell to free up some cash. It's one of the nicer pig mounts I've seen as it doesn't look cartoonish. Anyway, is it legal for me to list and sell this in New York? -
Thanks! Perfect.

According to this map, I can shoot a buck in westchester with my regular season tag before Nov 16th. Am I reading that right?
-
Go easy on me, rookie question here. Here's my situation. I have access to private bow hunting spots in both Rockland and Westchester County. Westchester county is bow only, all season long. I have used my Bow/Muz Either sex tag on a nice 7 point. Question is, can I use my regular season tag in Westchester county BEFORE November 16th considering it is bow only all the time. Thanks in advance.

Big Body 7 Point Down With The Bow
WestchesterBowman replied to WestchesterBowman's topic in Deer Hunting
Well I've had mixed results in terms of penetration. I've taken 5 deer total with the 100 Grain Spitfire Maxx and 3 were pass throughs, 2 were not. I hit one deer high in the shoulder and he lived to tell the tale. So they are definitely lethal but im not sure they have the same punching power that fixed blade does. -
Big Body 7 Point Down With The Bow
WestchesterBowman replied to WestchesterBowman's topic in Deer Hunting
You're absolutely right, I certainly enjoy the scenery, the peace and quiet, and the land of the Catskills far more than Rockland county. Having said that, I also greatly enjoy having venison in my freezer so there are pro's and con's to both areas. Catskills is more of a group thing, get together with the guys, but we don't take many deer, especially with the bow. -
Well after three days up in our Catskills camp seeing nothing but birds and squirrels we packed up Monday afternoon and headed back home. By the time we got back it was 3 p.m. I decided to jump right back in the jeep and head to my bow hunting spot in Rockland county (NY). I was settled in the stand by 4:30 and I'm glad I did. Right as the sun was setting, I had a few fawns and a young buck feeding below my stand. A nice mature doe came out and I began that slow, calculated process of getting the bow ready to draw. Just as I was about to draw I saw another deer coming down the trail. A buck! He hit the Y in the trail and thankfully he picked to go to the left. He came right under my stand. He paused and I let the arrow go, heart and lung shot, I heard him crash and sat shaking in my tree stand for a good 15 minutes or so. Only my second buck ever, I was absolutely thrilled to put a good shot on him and recover him. 100 grain Spitfire Maxx broadheads, Mission Venture bow.

Do you typically take a bear to the butcher than the taxidermist or the other way around?
