  1. two things 1) didn't put words in your mouth, feel free to point it out. 2) since I asked you a question why don't you answer it?
  2. Yes one either sex and the second would be antlerless only. I am under the impression you can use them in either season according to the regs.
  3. Growalot, First off I answered your question the best I could, if you can't shot a doe with the available tags then I really can't help you. But your inability to shoot a doe doesn't mean I didn't answer the question. Second go to the DEC website it tells you right there the muzzleloader and archery tags are good for either season. So unless it was specifically excluded it from the two week antlerless only part you can and if so then I stand corrected Anything else you need to know feel free to ask.
  4. Lets see you can get two dmps, you have an either or, and many have a second antlerless only muzzleloader. That's a possibility of four. You get one buck tag. You have a problem with an 50:50 take? If you still have a problem shooting one doe. Nope I can't answer you. Oh yeah then there's the two more bonus tags you pointed out that can be used after nov1 , still archery season in case your wondering, If that's not the question you wanted answered please let me know which one I can help you with
  5. First remember I'm not making the rules and have said it won't work But the other seasons have a 50% doe take archery doesn't I'm obviously in the minority of trying to appease the DEC and trying to keep guns out of the archery season So let's start a new topic or maybe a poll! Who'll be the first to bitch when they put guns in bow season!
  6. Belo, Maybe everyone else missed the point They want them dead in archery season either help them or lose the season to muzzle loaders
  7. Doc, It's more the 6 week archery season which the antler less take is 30% compared to the 50% in other seasons they want changed. They obviously feel it is not being utilized to there benefit and want to increase the amount of antler less deer taken during this time. So they are asking/telling bow hunters to shoot more deer or they will be bringing in muzzle loaders to the archery season. As the responses show in this thread of those who either won't shoot doe or won't even bother to hunt, we can almost bet on having a early muzzle loader season next year. Belo, Am I a gun hunter who hates bow hunters because I think they should shoot the a same % of antler less deer as gun hunters do ? Or am I a selfish bowhunter who doesn't want muzzleloader a into my archery season? Just maybe I'm someone who understands sometimes you have to do what you don't like to try and preserve what you have.
  8. A Sportsman, I don't think there is anyone here that doesn't understand that one dead doe is one dead doe no matter if it's shot in early archery ,regular season or late muzzleloader. But if you think that's the bottom line I think you're greatly mistaken. The DEC has, generally speaking, a month and a half archery season where they feel that not enough doe are being taken. THEY ARE GOING TO CHANGE THIS ! The question is how? Bow hunters taking more doe or establishing a early muzzleloader season during the archery season. By the responses in this thread here come the guns! Bottom line It's really that simple
  9. Belo, So what is it I'm a bow hater or selfish bowhunter?
  10. Thanks stubby I just think there's lots of people here that just want to blame others for everything.
  11. so me being concerned about archery season is selfish now. Interesting turn of events here I guess you are one of the ones that want guns, don't worry you will soon have them.
  12. Grow, It doesn't affect me THIS year, but all these hissy fits knee jerk reactions aren't going to help bow hunters. Next year year when there is a two week muzzleloader season thrown in archery season don't start whining! See after that happens the two week season will spread throughout the state and Us True bow hunters who can actually see what's coming and are trying to prevent it will all be affected So either bowhunters try and shoot does in the affected areas and try to appease DEC even the slightest or welcome the guns with open arms. Pick a side
  13. Doc, Why does it happen to be the same people that feel there is hatred to them anytime it doesn't go the way they want?
  14. I got it! So after reading this thread I finally see the hidden hate. So many so called bow hunters here hate the new DEC plan (actually everyone is against it) but some of the most vocal protesters, those who are either not going to hunt the first two weeks, refuse to shoot does in affected areas during archery season, hunt other ares where they can shoot a buck the first two weeks, basically those with the lets say "protest" the new plan, they happen to be muzzleloader hunters. Now what would they have to gain with bow hunters refusing to follow DEC plan?
  15. Just because you don't like what's being said doesn't make it hate! But feel free to point it out.
  16. Belo, I read the thread only hate I see comes in your post. Please point out the other hate Thanks
  17. And then what's the next step for DEC? Guns in archery season, I guess thats what everyone wants. It's plain and simple if we don't shoot the does in come guns! So at least get the % the same so you have a somewhat legit argument
  18. I'm trying to slow down here so bear with me. Archery is far less effective then guns. Agreed So exactly how does this effect the ratio of antlered to antlerless deer take?
  19. I don't know about that. I'm sure I'm one of the ones you think has all this animosity to bowhunters. But here is how I see it playing out, DEC wants the antlers deer take to increase Archers have the longest season in the affected areas Archers shoot the Lowest % of antlerless deer The DEC is giving archers the chance to increase that harvest so they don't need to bring guns in to archery season DEC is reading this thread and knows the deer take won't increase Archers don't shoot does DEC will plan to implement two week doe only muzzleloader season Bowhunters will bitch about the early Oct gun season and not being able to hunt undisturbed deer DEC moves early muzzleloader to the last two weeks (THE BEST FOR BOWHUNTING) Bowhunters lose the best two weeks of archery season But lets keep bitching and refusing to shoot the doe in the areas needed! It's not animosity It's a wake-up call!
  20. "most bowhunters I know of take doe more so than bucks. you can't compare bowhunters with gun hunters as most people who hunt with a bow, hunt with a gun also. you can even compare hunting implements, bow and gun, because the useage isn't the same. pretty sure anyone looking at this thread has figured that out. otherwise they're illiterate." DB, Honestly explain to me why bowhunters shoot a lower % of does then other hunters.
  21. Sorry WNY none of it is bull. And bowhunters don't shoot the same % of antlerless deer as gun hunters or muzzleloaders. Sorry It's the truth.
  22. Explain how I'm talking out my backside? Whats not true about what I wrote?
  23. I always hear about how bowhunters should be let in state parks, municipalities etc to help with the deer populations. How this would solve the problem. No all of a sudden its completely illogical and impossible for bowhunters to control the population. Here's a thought, go out during bow season and shoot as many doe as possible, then don't shoot any in gun season! Show the DEC that bowhunters can do it. Bring the % of antlers deer taken by bow somewhere even close to what gun hunters take If not it will go to the guns unfortunately the DEC will give them two weeks of prime archery season to do it. We asked to use DMPS in archery season and got it now use them!
