Ordinarily I avoid any and all topics wherein "abortion" rears its' head. Not because I am opposed, favor, or have any reasonable semblance of what could be called a stance on abortion. Frankly, to me it's a non-issue. The closest thing to a stance on abortion I have is "Is it my baby in there? No? Carry on." Where my feathers get ruffled is when people talk about rights and somehow feel that restrictions on a right determined to exist by the court - and yes the framers did indeed recognize that no list of natural human rights could be exhaustive - are seen as granted more leeway and bearing than those specifically enumerated. The "right" to abortion, the "right" to marry (gay or straight).....no infringements permitted. Full speed ahead. Specifically enumerated right in the Constitution of These United States....Whoa there Nelly. Sign this here paper and let's see if the founders meant you. Again. Home Depot. Cash or Credit please. They could even add an Abortion Aisle. Maybe even make it self service like those new check outs. Or would it be closer to a self-service car wash vacuum? Questions, questions.

Small game hunting on Long Island
Felonious_Monk replied to Stretcher Guy's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I just spoke on the phone with an officer at the Stony Brook office. Air rifles are permitted for use on Long Island anywhere shotguns are. All small game regulations apply, as well as the prohibition on migratory game birds. No turkey/pheasant/waterfowl, that sort of thing. Seems you're good to go as soon as your license is valid. -
This is no joke, I have vids/photos of them moseying up and down the streets. I especially love how they cross Hylan at the crosswalk by Seaview Ave to raid the garbage cans. Don't walk sign? Turkeys are like call the cops, IDGAF.

Where on Earth did I say I wasn't going to vote? I said I will not vote for R&R. No, my vote is very important to me. What you see as a waste, or frittering away, of my vote I see as a legitimate protest. You say Mr Romney is the only one capable of defeating Mr Obama in this state. That's like telling a man foundering in the ocean he'd be better off to drown in a lake. I don't want either of them anywhere near the White House. And Frankly, I'm more concerned with maintaining the House and seizing the Senate. Let Obama stay where he is and have a hostile congress to contend with. I'm hoping for gridlock. The less they do in D.C. the better. I'm not quite convinced we're so far out on the promontory we can't turn this bus around just yet. Gridlock at least takes the proverbial foot off the gas, even if it doesn't jam on the brakes and turn us around.

Small game hunting on Long Island
Felonious_Monk replied to Stretcher Guy's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Maybe I have been misinformed. I was under the impression that along with the recent modification allowing airguns with a muzzle velocity ≥600 fps, they were then elevated, for the purposes of sporting hunts, to being actual rifles. As such, would not ENCON Law prohibit their use on L.I., as we are bow and shotgun only? -

wow, what an amazing retort Bubba EDIT: @ Sogaard, that's alright. Most of my friends are mega liberals and think I'm insane. We're still friends. -

Note above where I said I just got my big n small game plus fishing for 10/1/2012. The name is just a play on words with a jazz musician. Don't like it I guess? I just don't understand gun owners that always want to meet the enemy, and yes, they are the enemy, halfway, thinking that will be enough. As for your reference to 18 922 of the United States Code, did you think you were educating me? Thanks, I feel all warm and fuzzy. It's almost like you care. As to Sogaard, fear not my friend, as soon as my wife finishes her doctorate at USB, we're gonna sell the house on this crappy island and head southwest. Slightly further than Texas though. And I work on your Island. Let's meet at the cigar shop in Hylan Plaza and talk about it over a cigar. -

This is why I don't fit in in this state. I think firearms should be sold at Home Depot and the only questions asked should be cash or credit. -

It is an ineffective law. And no man who is free, no matter what his past or crime, should be debarred the use of arms. Your claim is that a person convicted of a felony can not lead a law abiding life, and should thus be disarmed forever. That's like saying crashing your car into another should lead to a lifelong ban on you driving, because you can never be trusted to drive your car again. Or any such comparison you wish. Civil Death is an inherently Un-American ideal, and has only recently in our history raised it's black and ugly head. By allowing the government to divest a portion of the population, in this case an easy target - felons - you open the door for further infringements. First the felons, and everyone says "That's a great idea". Next it's the "mentally ill" (happening now, I might add). More and more groups divested of a FUNDAMENTAL right. Name some felonies for me. How many felonies are there in NY? Does each one transgress the rights of a person, or do some simply transgress an arbitrary legal boundary set by the state. Everyone of us is one overzealous ADA away from felony conviction. Anyone here who says they have never broken the law is lying not only to others but himself. The Wall Street Journal....not exactly known as a piece of leftist agitprop http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704471504574438900830760842.html -

The Kool-Aid is that they don't already have it. The only felon a law against felons owning guns is stopping is one who wishes to lead a law abiding life. The felon who doesn't give a crap, and wants to live the "thug life", we'll he's already got a gun. I hear gun owners and sportsman say gun control only inhibits the law abiding all the time. Do you actually believe it, or is it just something you say to have a retort? As for felons becoming felons by infringing on someone else's rights, if only that were true. If the only felonies on the books were malum in se laws, the statement would be true, but it isn't. When victimless mala prohibita become reason for felony conviction, the statement ceases to be true. If they're too dangerous to own a gun, they're too dangerous to be out of prison. If they're out of prison, I cannot condone the creation and continuation of any sort of secondary class of citizen. A debt paid is a debt paid. In other news, I picked up my big n small game plus fishing for 10/1/2012 Last Thursday. -
It's a vote for principle sir. Neither the Republican nor Democrat parties or their operatives are interested in you or your rights. The Democrat/Republican paradigm foisted upon us by entrenched machinery must be shed. I will NOT be voting for Mitt Romney short of someone putting a gun to my son's head.

I found your site 2 days ago. I signed up because it seemed to be an amusing corner of the internet full of people proclaiming to be pro-gun/hunting/sportsmanship, but seem very inclined to support the same donkeydust that comes out of the mouths of retards like Carolyn McCarthy and Schumer. You are just fine with infringements on rights, just so long as they aren't YOUR rights. I'm reminded of some quotes, help me out here...one's got something to do with tempestuous seas of liberty and the other chains resting lightly upon you. -

Errr, and I'm trolling? The Constitution isn't a code of laws? Then what praytell is it? A suggested guide? No, I know...it's a rough outline. So, it's not the Supreme Law of the Land, it's just a handy reference guide for how to run a Republic. Gotcha. Oh, and that little legislative rider on the tail end, those are privileges permitted the citizenry by the government, right? They aren't UNALIENABLE RIGHTS of man, they're revocable privileges administered by bureaucrats and subject to reinterpretation by the whim of the day, is that it? -
