  1. thanks and there goes my bear hunt! After a few hours of shooting everything was perfect! Then with only a few rounds left I started noticing that the rounds were straying down and out so I look down at the rifle and the trigger housing screws came undone!!!!!!!! I couldn't friggin believe it! All the high end ammo I wasted and a sore ass shoulder and it was all for nothing. I have to get some lock tight for the bolts and then sight the rifle back in and I wont have time to do it before the hunt. So I guess im gonna go goose hunting instead....
  2. lolol ohh brother lmao When I see hunting pics I like the ones where the guys have the green eyes and mud all over their face and they look dangerous. Like the under armor adds. I don't think you gotta worry about anyone stealing those pics lmao.
  3. man that deer was having a bad day! But seriously Im not sure if I would have taken the meat but then again just thinking of a plump juicy back strap and the smell of it on the grill...sizzling...crackling....mmmmmmmmmmm
  4. Hey guys going out to do some work with the 30-06 today, if anyone else from the forums are going to the range today feel free to come over and say hi! ill have a hat on with an elk skull on the front. Always good to meet guys off this site! I am going bear hunting next weekend with a great guy I met off this site so wish us luck!
  5. oh man tell us the story! philoshop
  6. yea I agree with futuretrash really got to take your time I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I had two cubs starving to death in the woods on my account.
  7. im going to be using a ballistic silver tip 150 gr in 30-06 it should have no problem penetrating the shoulder bone within 100 yards even in 150 grain. Should do the job no? If not I got a couple 220 grain whoppers as well
  8. Hey guys I am going on my first bear hunt in 3A next weekend to wrap up the early season. I was wondering if you guys had any tips for a newbie bear hunter! I am hunting with a weatherby vanguard series 2 in 30-06 with a Winchester ballistic silver tip 150g round. I picked up a screech call and my friend I am hunting with is bringing vanilla caramel extract in the legal limit allowed. We are hunting a lake surrounded by 3000ft peaks and I am planning on hunting the peaks for the most part. Any advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated. There are a ton of streams that run down into the lake so we were thinking of following them up the mountain. Thanks for taking the time I will update the post with any pics if we bag one!
  9. jmythngdmb is right it took me three years to get my buck. You get better as time goes on just try and keep reminding yourself to move slowly and keep your eyes pealed!
  10. yea just be care full there are usually a ton of guys running around sterling on opening day and you need to apply for the permit to be able to hunt there legally on opening day! I urge everyone who hunts there to make sure they have a safe backdrop as I will be in those woods on that very day!
  11. you let me know if you ever need any help shooting those pesky deer lol
  12. yea im going up next weekend for early bear and I am hoping to not see any cubs. I couldn't live with myself if I did that and I would throw my rifle in the trash
  13. man that's some good info thanks a lot dbhunter...I cant wait to try it!
  14. man that thing is GREAT!! Good for you devil dog! Def looks like it took some work to put that up especially by yourself! Cant keep a good grunt down! GET SOME!
  15. def gotta make a trip out to Calverton. Im not crazy about the grim reapers I bought a pack last year and well....they kinda suck! I kept finding them coming undone and opening up just from walking. I switched to the titanium rage pros and so far so good! Planning a bear hunting trip next weekend and possible a goose hunt as well. Might turn out to be a pretty cool weekend!
  16. do you gut the bear first? Or do you have to leave it completely intact? I would imagine gutting it would make it a little lighter. And how the hell do you dragg it out of the woods!!!!
  17. thanks guys im planning a trip for the 20-21 I cant wait my first black bear hunt!
  18. if I want a full body mount can I skin the animal or do I have to bring the entire carcass?
  19. yea I would imagine so. I cant imagine every guy that bags a bear puts aside a couple grand before he goes on a hunt. Then again,...
  20. wow thanks a lot guys I hope I get one now! I wonder if they accept payment plans lol
