So I took a hike though the local state land I put some time in on this past season. On one of my last trips I found another trail head and another trail and I wanted to connect the 2 on my GPS. What was supposed. To be a halfa'd walking small game chit chat with some friends and some coffee. Ended. Up being me lonely self. So 3 items were on the list... Test my new bibs and jacket in sub20* weather..... Test fire the wife's 597 after replacing some broken internals.... And do some trail mapping. All were successfull. Gear was warm... Gun shoots fine now and I connected the 2 points... While walking I came into a valley in the woods I had been sitting all season.. And omw in on this new trail there were. 3 heavily used deer trails crossing the trail about 50 yards apart... All heading north/south. This excites me as it tells me that I was sitting in a good area.. Just on the wrong side of the valley. Also in this predominantly pine forest this valley has hardwoods and I found 2 large areas over 40 feet in diameter where the deer had ravaged the ground for acorns.. Another good sign. I was about run parralel one of the game trails to see if it was leading to shelter or food for the purpose of picking a new spot for next year. When the wife called and cut me short... Being 3 miles from the truck down twistiting paths I ended up bushwhacking straight through to the road and having a nice 2 mile walk back to the truck.... So I'll be off again in the coming weeks to finish the scout and track those game trails to find a new spot to setup... On the downside I found 2 more branching paths I'll need to GPS. Gotta love the snow... Shows things u may not have seen otherwise. Happy scouting y'all.

So I went to bp gift cards in hand fully expecting to walkout with some turkey supplies... And end up leaving with a 200$ redhead cold weather system jacket to match my bibs I bought earlier.... Looks like a regular old German snow poncho will have to do for next year

Without a doubt there is always some on there.. Typically going for 150-200.. If I can get a bead or rifle sights on the old barrell for less than thats what I'll do... If smithing exceeds the cost of a barrel on eBay .

I've actually read reel times post several times. As well as the entire thread to let it all sink in and marinate... The advice is much appreciated... As far as Cody's are concerned I actually read an article on him and slate calls today.. As well as watched several box and slate call videos to get a feel for them... I may just get a basic promos box and slate. And work each to see which one I pick up the quickest. After just dropping my fun money on new bibs and a muzzleloader I'm thinking I need to find a local smith to give me an estimate on redoing my short barrell.

Alright so I got promos old crow call on the list and I'm torn between a box or slate.. I've found the lynch jet slate call. Yet can't find a large amount of reviews on it.... Anyone have one?

I was looking at these this year... Favorable reviews all over if u look for them..... I have a bushman hammock chair from www.arrowhead-equipment.com i have it for backpacking and appropriated it for hunting this season. Worked good but needs 2trees limiting your options. But this fanatic chair takes the cake I almost got one earlier in the season. And will get one for next year

So in my search for bibs I keep seeing the real tree snow. And it looks good. However this year it seems that in my area we only had snow for 20% of the season. Does the snow pattern give you any legitimate advantage over the deer? On the ground I could see this happening IF there's decent fresh snowfall on branches... What I've read on deer eyesight lead me to believe that instead of just being a dark misshapen blob you'd be a lighter colored blob... ( as the purpose of the camp is to break up your outline) Thoughts?

Ended up grabbing the redhead cold weather system bibs...insulated... Turns out only mossy oak pattern was on sale 33% but they gave me 20% on the real tree due to the confusion.... Marked 160$ . I suited up when I got home and I think they'll be fine. Stopped at dicks they had crap insulated field and stream bibs for cheap.. Went to gander their guide series insulated looked a little bit Kore rugged than the redhead but didn't seem to. Have as much insulation. They were a tad cheaper though

The new bp in Utica has their outer redhead hunting wear on 33% off... But its only till the 24th.... Do they tend to have another clearance after the holidays? Really need a set of bibs for next season

My issue was from not having a sling and attempting to carry it with one hand.. It does require a good amount of force/ movement to break it open

it was def. a hectic season and the wife was mind blowingly supportive of all the nonsense. Thanks for all the positive responses... I know the majority of us like a good story so i figured id put it all out there. My partner and I are going to work his land in the coming months and get some more cheapo stands up in some prime areas on his land. after getting some walk time in in the last 2 days of ML i was honestly dusgusted that we put in so much time sitting in the one area of his property.

Yeah im glad I grabbed it. I wa sout xmas shopping with the wife and did my usual stroll through hunting/camping and there it was. hemmed and hawed for a minute and she came roudn the corner with a cart 2x the size of when i left and I walked away. Ont he way out the door iwas googling buds and gunbroker for price comparison and started telling ehr what a good deal it was. She matter of factly says why didnt you get it? SO i stewed on the way home and read reviews here and other places... onc ehome i did the couple chores i had and called the walmart cloe to my hosue to see if they ahd any for the same price... guy came back with 208$... So i decided to shoto out to the fartehr walmart and grab it.... pulling out of my driveway i made a snap decision to try ym local walmart ( thatd id called) so see if I could purchase there and have it transferred to the lcoser walmart for pick up later in the week. Once int he store there were no ML to be seen... So i asked a guy if the store transfer was possible... he deferred to ana ssitant manger. He advised me the ML's wer ein abck due to a broken display case. I agve him the deets and went to look. He came back with it in hand ss i immediately asked him if he woudl rice match if it came up different. he said hed think about it lol... Luckily it rang up clearance price an dout the door i went. Saved prolly 2.5 hours out of my saturday by chancing the closer store. even with the broken sight I am very happy. now i need some butter, bullets, primers and powder.... Any recomendations of supplies or other things I'll need for my new ML? I ahve a sling and I am debating throwing my bushie 1x4 on it. But i just love fiberoptic sights so.

Thanks for the advice all.. I'm going try and find a smith in the local area and see if they can assist with a permenant bead or iron sights and determine the choke thread for this barrell. As well as keep on the lookout for a 24 or 26in vent for wing shooting..

Well looks like tapatalk decided to post this in the turkey forum... My bad.. Nowonder I couldn't find it to check it in the ml forum... Lol... Ended up grabbing the last one... Got it home and the front fiberoptic was missing.... Calling CVA Monday... Worst case new front and rear goes for 20$ or so on amazon... Love the stainless finish... Thinking of throwing my 1x4 Bushnell on it

Used my buddies this season and aside from accidently breaking it open while walking I loved this little ml. Local Walmart has them clearance for 169.... Buddy has had good luck with his.... Anyone have complaints? Or is it a decent ml to get me through several seasons?
